R55 Buying used 2008 Clubman Mini
Buying used 2008 Clubman Mini
I am thinking of buying a used 2008 Clubman Mini with man trans, sport package, nearly 30K mileage. This is my first posting to this site. What would be a good price, am purchasing from a dealer? Dealer wants me to purchase two new front tires, Cert. PO plan and will sell for 19.5K plus tag and title. I think the dealer is pricing this high, he should CPO the Mini at his cost and throw in the two new fronts and replace cracked w/shield and then I would pay 18K. Any advice? Paint job is decent and the interior is clean.
That is high for a mostly base Clubby. New ones, sans sport package are gong for $23k. You have a good price point in mind, IMHO. I just bought on Friday, a Dark Silver 2008 Clubby S, with 19K miles. Loaded: Auto, 17" webs, Comfort, Convenience, Cold weather packages, punch carbon leather, sport seats, sun roofs, sport suspension, aero package, upgraded stereo with lifetime Sirius, MF wheel, CF scoop and dash, BT/ipod, HIDs, anthracite liner, new OE mats, plus some other stuff like F & R fogs, for $22.3k. Awesome car, I love it. What a blast.
If you weren't already using it, here's a good online resource to check vehicle values yourself:

Bear in mind this site is a guide, not the final word on value. Like with anything else, it's worth what someone is willing to pay for it...
I agree with everybody else: this dealer is trying to get you to pay for things he should be providing as part of the CPO package. When you buy a CPO vehicle, you shouldn't have to purchase anything else; just sign the papers and drive it away, worry-free (or relatively so). That's why the CPO value (which the above web site will provide) is higher than a "run-of-the-mill" used car...
Tell him to put new tires on and correct the defects at his cost, or take your business elsewhere. After all: it's still a buyer's market...
