What do you guys think - should I go silver stripes with NO pins or go for silver with black pins? I'm torn.

My suggestion would be Silver Stripe with the Black Pins...In MY opinion, the stripes just dont look finished without the pin stripe. I like the 1/8" pin...it's smaller and just looks really good.

Revisiting this thread.

Thanks to your post, I ordered a set of stripes from RMG.

Black with a red pinstripe.

Any suggestions on how to get the factory bonnet stripes off without damaging the car?

I paid 34.99 for the set and a couple of bucks to ship them. They're a high quality vinyl and perfectly cut to size. I used a wet application to apply them and it literally took less than 45 minutes to install.

When I purchased my Clubman, the dealer wanted 250.00 installed. I just thought it was a LITTLE high!!

I chose to order from Rocky Mountain Graphics, not knowing them, the quality and service. As said, the quality is VERY good and the shipping took like 3 days from start to finish.

So, if you need bonnet stripes and you don't want to break the bank, try them, i have to say, you will not be unhappy.

I will post some pictures of the completed job when I get a sunny day.
Thanks for the great tip--just what I've been looking for and Rocky Mountain Graphics has a large assortment of colors for bonnet stripes including pinstripes if you want them. I ordered mine today.

The RMG stripes are 5" wide, correct? Are they wider with the pinstriping (if ordered) or no? How wide is just the pin stripe? Thanks!

They will be 5" with or without the pin stripe. You can specify the width of the PIN if you want to. Mine are 1/8" Black with Silver PINS.

If you contact them, they will make them whatever width you want...if you want 6", im sure they will do it.

Just a heads up.

If you order the stripes with the pinstripe included, they're cut out of white vinyl with the colours printed on.

So, when you get the stripes out in the sun, your "black" stripes aren't black. They're a weird blueish colour. They don't even begin to match the black on parts of the car or the black of my factory bonnet stripes. Also, there are a lot of areas where the colour didn't reach the edge of the stripe so you have some little white edges along what would be the edge of my red pinstripe.

Since he added his pinstripes himself, I'm betting SlimJim's were actually cut from black vinyl. If you're going to order these stripes, this is the way you need to go.

Also, on mine, there were some areas where the edges were curled right out of the tube and absolutely would not lay down no matter what I did.

I now understand why some of the other places charge so much more for stripes.

Mine are Black and I did Add Pins to them. If you have issues with them, I'm sure RMG will take them back or replace. They are pretty good to work with you. We (NAM) have pushed some pretty good business his way and I'm sure they will take care of it.

My local tint shop is going to make me some using 3M reflective vinyl. Plus, because they're a 3M shop and they're installing 3M vinyl, they're going to stand behind it, too.

I just wanted people to know about the printed stripes so they wouldn't be surprised like I was.

If they're going to order stripes from RMG, they should get the ones like you ordered that are actually cut out of coloured vinyl. That's all.

Not bad for 3M outdoor vinyl and a total of US$80.00 installed.

REALLY like your stripes! Look at my gallery to see why. I'm in the process of extending them down the front bumper this weekend.

Extended stripes down the bumper

As I said, I've extended my stripes down the bumper with the pin stripes also.

Thanks guys. Believe me, if I could do this anyone can. They're not perfect but not bad for an amateur.

For those of you with the RMG stripes, how are they holding up? I think I am going to order a set of silver bonnet/boot for installation on the car next weekend since it's a long one.

If I'm not mistaken, that's the factory JCW exhaust.

Actually, no, those are the dealer-installed JCW kit (Stage 1) exhaust pipes. Mine (full JCW factory) are completely open with no inner "baffle".

Yesterday I received my new silver stripes from RMG - about one week from order to receipt . I asked them to cut the stripes to a width of 5.5" (0.5" wider than normal) to give a little more surface area and better match IMHO the width of the Clubman rear door handles. Great deal at less than $40 including shipping! Hoping to get these on the car at the end of the week.

May add 1/8" black pins depending on how they look.

Then either he changed the exhaust on a factory JCW to the S1 exhaust

Or that is a Cooper S with a JCW S1 and the JCW badges are incorrectly placed on the car.

Badge placement...
Factory JCW, front...lower right hand facing side, rear lower right hand facing side

Stage 1 JCW, front...upper grill on the left facing side, rear lower left facing side

Finally got the front stripes on the car last night (rears still to do) . They are the RMG stripes, width 5.5", and spacing of 1.25" apart. Now she needs a good wash and Zaino treatment.
