Actually, I think Mini's "Quality Control" lacks something! When I picked my Mini up at the dealer the dome light was hanging by the wires. One would think the dealer would have noticed that!

Ouch!! QC is a big issue, but also "Dealer Quality Service", how can they not notice something like that on a car they are delivering

Unbelievable!!!

FYI when I put my R55 2009 MCCS and looked it up, the part doesn't show a "up to 03/08" note. I'm asking my dealer to rectify the situation... I've seen the emblem too on another MINI.

This is another MINI quirk, and this issue has been around for a year or two. There appears to be no rhyme or reason behind who gets a MINI valve cover emblem, and who doesn't.

If there's any type of quality inspection at the end of the line, you'd think this issue would be pretty easy to spot!

I can tell you from my own experience and others that this type of QC is often a bit deficient at the ol' MINI plant!

FYI, I traced this through my service dep't and got told this:

"I understand you are inquiring about the “missing” MINI emblem from the valve cover of your car. There are a few different valve covers that MINI has used in manufacturing and the valve cover on your car does not accommodate a MINI emblem. Retrofit is not supported at this time. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and will be willing to re-evaluate at your next service to see what MINI has to offer at that time. "

so:
a) different valve covers, so while you can probably just "glue a mini emblem" on any cover... there are probably valve covers that have the emblem on, already
b) if you are very lucky and the moon and mars line up, you might get a swap. otherwise I expect they'll say "you can pay for the new part"...

Go letm know at the dealership. My local dealership gave me a new one when my rear emblem started delaminating and I don't have warranty either.

My 09 s clubman does not have one. I was confused, because my understanding was that the replacement valve covers did not have the emblem and my service history did not show it was ever replaced. I asked the dealer and they said the same thing, "maybe it was a replacement part." I told them I checked the history, so the did too and didn't see that it was replaced. They were just as confused as me. They said if you want one just buy an emblem and stick it on.
