getting close to my 1st service date. last night, the service mile countdown was at 3500mi w/ 16650mi on the car. this morning, after sitting in the garage all night, the red service light comes on. no other warning lights, no mile countdown, no car outlines or any other icons, just big red service letters. never saw an orange service light. manual indicates there should have been at least a car outline showing too.

drove ~15 miles to work. now we're back to 3500mi on the service countdown. oil is full. coolant is full. drove ~15 miles back home. still at 3500mi.

wtf?

 

Either way sounds like you're close enough to schedule a service visit...

 

dang. your braver than me, I took it in at 10,000 to have the oil changed. I just couldn't let it go as far as it was indicating, according to the car I still had over 10,000 to go. Now I just turned 20,000 and next month I finally get the free oil change.

 

Im pretty sure your first service is either a year after purchase or 1000 miles before the indicator hits zero. I would check with your local dealer anyways if you saw the red SERVICE icon come up.

 

well, we're back to counting down for each 100 miles consumed again, so i'm not gonna worry about it too much. i think the warning message was just a one time deal. up until i reached the 4000 miles left to go marker, it would count down for each 1000 miles consumed, but since hitting 4000 miles left to go, it started counting down for each 100 miles consumed. i put on ~2k miles/month, so as soon as i hit the 2000 miles left to go marker, i'll schedule the appointment since the local dealer is typically 3-4 weeks booked up at any given time.

 

count down still going every 100 miles since the little blip when the red service light came up. down to 2900 miles to go...tick-tick-tick.
