R55 Double clutching: got it done at last!
*sigh*....
Driving around town doesn't require "aggressive" downshifts, just a nice, gentle throttle blip to gently bring the revs up, car shifts smoothly with no movement at all--it's smoother than downshifting without the blip. It's not the same as on the track.
Anyway, we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one I guess.
And the original poster is dead and gone, so at this point it's all going to deadspace, so I'm out....

And I will continue to dubble (sometimes tripple) clutch the hell out of my Samurai out of nicessity. (God bless its gears, just stay togeather for one more year.)
But I will never do the Ole' Doubble tap to my MINI. Unless after 250,000 miles the trany is about to go and I rebuild the motor with alot more power instead of fixing it. (Sorry Samurai)

Huh?
HT can be used in everyday driving when it is practical. I do it out of habit also, but I also will shift the tranny into neutral just as I am coming to a stop light. I will usually just blip the throttle to rev match if I am coming up to a turn that req's little to no braking and go around the corner while in gear. I also rev match to get the car in the right gear for a turn before applying the brakes.
See.....lots of ways to drive w/o adding unnecessary wear and tear.
