R55 Blown speakers? Is that possible?
Blown speakers? Is that possible?
My wife's Clubman speakers recently started to sound awful. I have been know to play the music, from the Ipod connection, loud sometimes, but is it possible they are blown? Why would they put an amp with an output capable of blowing the speakers? I would think thats a pretty basic engineering concept to put in speakers capable of what the amp could send them. If blown, is that covered by the warranty?
Hello,
It is quite possible that the speakers are blown, but that would require a good amount of loud music in order to have them break. More than likely the speakers will be under warranty as long as you say you don't play music loud.
If they discover that they broke because of your doing, they will more than likely ask you to pay it after the work is done. That's usually how it works.
I hope it works out for you!

There's plenty of talk about the lousy stereo system in this forum: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...play.php?f=201
BTW any speaker no matter how good can be easily blown by distorted or clipped music even at low volumes.
Thats for the responses. I'll take it in to the dealer. It's going to be our first trip back for warranty work. I anixous to see how that will go. We have a short list of issues. I'll post the resolution
