R55 2009 MINI Mis-build Bulletin
Week 43 build here. My MA called today. The car is in and she verified that the Anthracite headliner was in it. I am getting the windows tinted and it will probably be Tuesday now before I get it.
Dang this waiting..........

I'm willing to bet it was a delivery problem from the HL supplier. They are undoubtedly working on a just-in-time delivery model, which means that when the parts didn't show, they had no choice but to continue since the cars would have been half-built on a line with no slack. Foreman undoubtedly decided this could be fixed off the line better than throwing a wrench into the works.
Issue is communication with the rest of MINI, which should have fixed it before delivery.

Congrats rPod on your new MINI and the AH!
Maybe things will start to catch up now, and replacement AHs will begin to arrive at dealerships in greater numbers. Rrcaniglia, I think you nailed the scenario at the plant. It's just surprising that the shortage went on for nearly 6 weeks. And you're right, MINI's communications with customers was the most maddening issue through it all, too many people playing the "if we pretend it's not there, there's really no problem" game.
tancred,
I wouldn't be surprised if some strike didn't cause a six-week hiatus in deliveries--especially if the headliners are made in France. Six weeks. Rule-of-thumb is twice the strike length to restart and catch-up after a short one, especially if the factory shut down completely.

Yay, I now have an antracite headliner! Took my dealer's service department about 4.5 hours to swap it out yesterday. Everything went well, and save for some finger prints they left on windshield.
So, don't give up hope: your dealer can install an anthracite headliner if they really want to. For reference, my dealer is the excellent Patrick Mini in Chicago, Il.

Congrats and thanks for posting. That is great that you are happy with your dealer and their work
The anthracite headliner looks great, I think it makes a big difference over the stock grey one. I have a black and brown interior, so having grey in the mix didn't really work.
I *was* pretty happy with the quality of the work done until I saw this through the driver side rear window:

The headliner appears to be sagging on the rear drivers side. I can't tell how it attaches to the roof, but it looks like it might have just popped out of a groove or something. I'm sure getting it fixed will involve another 2 hour drive to my dealer

I did try pushing it up, but there really doesn't appear to be any sort of lip that holds it in place. I molded it up a little so it's not as obvious when I step up to the car, but it will definitely need to be redone. I've learned my lesson: also inspect what the work the dealer does
It's official -- I have a Thursday appointment to get my AH installed! After joshpuetz's experience, I'll look at it carefully before driving off. I'll probably also have it tinted while it's in. Here's hoping everyone gets the call soon.
Wish me luck tomorrow, guys -- the AH replacement is happening!
When I took delivery on my Clubman and made preliminary arrangements for a replacement, the manager slipped up and instructed my MA to make sure I get a really nice loaner, "give her a J..." and he trailed off. -- "...JCW?" I piped up. "I'm gonna hold you to that!" Sigh, I don't think they have any JCW loaners, though.

At last!
It took two months, plus a day and a half in the shop, but my AH has been replaced. I checked and double checked everything, and they did a great job. A couple of plastic bits hadn't arrived by late yesterday afternoon, so they kept it until today, even though I live about 3 miles away from the dealer. The SA said his guys didn't want to release the car until it was perfect. I didn't mind, as I got to play with a MCS overnight. Nice power, but I prefer my Clubman; I've gotten so attached to it.
As for the AH, all I can say is wowie wow wow. Absolutely worth the wait.
As ebh paraphrased The Dude above, it really ties the car together. (Good heavens, I made a Big Lebowski reference. And I'm a girl.) I also had my Clubman tinted while there, making this baby look even badder. I will post pictures this weekend if the sun cooperates.
Joshpuetz, how did your AH replacement replacement go?

Went much better this time tancred, my dealership was able to swap out the headliner in about 3 hours with a new replacement, and this one fits perfectly. No sagging or anything. The black really does make a big difference to my eyes.
Glad to see everybody is starting to get their AH's in!

I'm technically a week 49 build, but my car is already in country and I have seen her. I haven't taken delivery yet, but I do have the AH installed per my order. Just adding my experience for the thread.
Lilliux, your Clubman must look so cool with the Midnight Black and AH. Utterly stealth!
P.S. I uploaded new pix of the interior in the Chili Red Clubman Owner's Club thread.

so, ummm, am i the only one left still missing the anthracite headliner...not to mention my chrome scoop? got a call from my ma about a month ago that there was some movement from mini, but haven't heard "boo" since then.
When did you get your MINI? I picked mine up 11/14 and haven't rec'd the AH yet either. I'm busy now anyways, but am hoping sometime in Jan that they will have it.
