Comp and Collision coverages are affected by the vehicle you drive and that car's IRG (Insurance Rating Group).
Liability coverage is on YOU, and some other factors, but not the vehicle. Same with UM... not dependent on the vehicle.
I generally agree, but I thought that the liability/UM premiums were also determined based on the kind of vehicle, ie: big, powerful V-8 vs. a 4 banger, or a sports car vs. a family sedan. I still don't understand how a MC Clubman could be in the same rating catagory as a 5.9 performance V-8.
In other works: What the heck happened to my "Station Wagon" discount??? Waaaahhhhhh!
the problem with all of these figures, you need to list all the variables, do you have the minimum requirements (meaning are you paying just to get by), or are your comp/collision etc all high. I have mine at the maximum possible, so my insurance is $99 more per month for the mini. I have NO tickets or crashes on my record, the mini is a 3rd car, and its listed as a "pleasure" vehicle. But since all of my variables are at the highest possible, I pay a lot for it. So remember that when you are getting your rates and comparing them to all the rest.
Sweet...really? A wagon? nice...I'll take it! Love wagons, almost got an A3, but crazy happy to get a Clubman instead. Do they still call it a wagon if it's an S? I know, probably a silly question, but I'm all for saving $$ where I can.
I've been pricing insurance for the clubman S I just ordered, and indeed the S is still listed as a "wagon" by insurance companies everywhere. Sweet deal isn't it?
