Insurance
Got my insurance cards yesterday (I'm a new owner), at State Farm considers my MCCS a stationwagon!
Pros - low, low insurance rate - even though this puppy is fast and looks like a sports car! Cons - c'mon, my mom owned a stationwagon (image of a Rambler), I have never owned a station wagon! |
I have been dreading talking to my agent since I ordered my MCCS but now I am not too worried since I have State Farm also.
Someone had stated somewhere else that "wagons are cool". Especially when they are little shrunk up ones that are really fast! |
We are State Farm and I called for an estimate and its an additional $55/mo to add the MCCS, for us. We have 3 teen drivers on our insurance, as well as 2 other vehicles. I thought the $55/mo increase was very reasonable.

Just goes to show how smart we (State Farm) are. Sorry, but that Clubman is a wagon. Put the Station in front of there or not, it's still a wagon.
|
actually its a shooting brake.

WOW, it is a Shooting-brake! I did get the MCCS for the fun of driving, and oh, by the way needed room for the golf clubs!
|
I've always considered the Clubman a stationwagon.
|
Here's what the vehicle industry calls the Clubman.
Year/Make/Model:2008 MINI COOPER S CLUBMAN Body Style:STATION WAGON Engine Type: 1.6L L4 FI DOHC 16VManufactured In: GERMANY I was surprised when State Farm told me the same info. I guess I'm a geezer, 30 years in advance. |
Bah, just because you drive a station wagon doesn't mean you're a geezer.
Soccer moms also drive them. |
Dan, that'd make me a soccer mom or a geezer!
I'm neither. Ha!:) |
i personally LOVE wagons.... prob. the only person on earth whole feels thjis way.
|
I don't think mine said "wagon" on it, but I can tell you that I pay the exact same amount for my 04 MINI as I do for my Clubman.
|
I too am not a fan of "station wagon" but I love the car, so who cares!! I have "Esurance" and the Clubman is still too new for them to even get a quote... Anyone else have Esurance? What are you/will you be paying for your Clubman?

I bought the Clubman because it was a station wagon!
|
Got no issues with it being called a Wagon!
It's a wagon that hauls @$$ and I can fit my dogs in the back. I have State Farm, too. They don't need to know it's a Chocolate Rocket...bring on the insurance savings! |
Sweet...really? A wagon? nice...I'll take it! Love wagons, almost got an A3, but crazy happy to get a Clubman instead. Do they still call it a wagon if it's an S? I know, probably a silly question, but I'm all for saving $$ where I can.

Statment: "Pros - low, low insurance rate -"
Response: Sounds good to me |
The Clubman isn't big enough to be a station wagon.
It's more like a "stat wag." |
my state farm insurance was 500 dollars six months what are your rates on the station wagon,,,, great driving record,.,,, senior come state farm ppl what is your great station wagon rates,,,,
|
I'm gonna resurrect this thread because I just got my first insurance bill from Liberty Mutual (now Ohio Casualty for us in the Mid-Atlantic region) and my insurance actually went up a bit from my old car.
Admittedly, my previous car was a 2001 Dodge Durango R/T so it had some age on it, but it also had a 5.9 liter engine. I told my agent that State Farm was treating the Clubman like a station wagon, but she said Liberty Mutual rates the Clubman and my previous R/T SUV in the same catagory (!!!!) She said the code was Symbol 16, whatever that means. I know that the value of the Clubman would increase my Collision and Comprehensive premiums, (Old: $256 and $122 vs. New: $408 and $174 for 1 year) but I thought the liability and UM would go down with the MINI. They stayed exactly the same. Any ideas what happened? Does anyone out there understand this "symbol" system? Thanks, Rich |
My MCCS is at $369.30 every 6 months and is currently running on par with my other two vehicles: 2005 Ford F150 $59.25/mo, 2005 Honda Accord V6 54.70, and the MCCS 58.05/month - note the newest bill from State Farm just added $6.62/mo which I assume is part of the 58.05!??
My profile is excellent, no wrecks or speed tickets (knocking on WOOD), and I have my house insured with them as well..the best way to go just my $.02. |

Thanks, Rich Liability coverage is on YOU, and some other factors, but not the vehicle. Same with UM... not dependent on the vehicle. |
