R55 Question about bonnet stripes
The final period is correct as-is. I'm using double quotation marks to indicate text in the original post, and the period is not part of that reference, but is properly used outside the quotation marks to indicate the end of the sentence.
When it comes to commas and periods, though, logic doesn't enter into the equation, at least not in the United States. Universal American usage places commas and periods inside the quotation marks, regardless of logic.
"Diane," she said, "put the book down and go outside for a little while."
"I will in a minute," she replied, "as soon as I finish this chapter."
This rule applies even when the unit enclosed at the end of the sentence is just a single word rather than an actual quotation:
To get to the next page, just press the little button marked "Enter."

Well, apparently someone disagrees with you:

Posting anything from WORD or another source may 'blow up' and cause all the font notifications.
If my use single quotes is wrong, I don't give a rats ****.

Ok, are Viper Stripes still Viper Stripes if they're only on the hood?
Inquiring mind is puzzled. Can Viper Stripes become Bonnet Stripes if they don't extend to the back of the vehicle?

I promise that this is my last post on this esoteric sub-topic. While common usage in standard American English is to always place a period inside the quotation marks that end a sentence, the British usage only includes the period inside the quotation if the period is part of the quoted passage or term. This is called logical quotation usage.
Some American manuals of style also allow this usage, and some technical and reference publications use it to provide greater clarity to the reader.
U may prefer the standard rule.

Enough please! I've closed the thread because people are not being sensible in posting on-topic. In the future keep this stuff on track or take it to off-topic.
