Hey MINI family. My article on my 2-year wait for Otto my Clubby is now out in the May Roundel, the BMW club magazine. It is on page 58 and runs for 4 pages.
They didn't edit a word. I am soooooo happy to see it in print. I hope some of you can read it as it reflects all of the experiences we all go through waiting for our babies.
I would post a link if I could figure out how.

Perhaps it will take a few days until it's available online?

I just received Roundel and read your excellent article.
Thanks, and it's good to see MINI well represented along with the rest of the BMW marks.

That's awesome - way to go! Yes - we all need a link when/if possible.

I just opened our Roundel. Found the Clubman article and said, "That HAS to be someone on the NAM.". Thanks for the read. It gave us a little fix while we watch our car sail by Puerto Rico tomorrow.
I'm going to email Satch Carlson the editor to ask if there is a way to link to it. He is the most fantastic guy--a true car God!
Let's see what I can figure out. I may edit computer programs, but putting it to use is not my expertise.
I've written a lot of articles over the years, but mostly gun or teddy bear related. This one is my love because I love the car so much and I love NAM so much. Can't remember what I did before I found all of you.
I can't wait to see Sin City Mini Club when they come to Prescott next month.

That is neato, cloud10 now get busy and right another article if it was worth the wait. I have about 3,500 on mine and I'm still in love.

It was so worth the wait!!! I hate putting it in the garage at night and the days I don't get to drive it are painful. It is so hard driving the Suburban as the handling is nonexistent, but if my husband has to go somewhere it has to be the Sub for his wheelchair lift. Originally Posted by ftttubrgcm

Invariably when I am in the SUV or truck I see all the other MINIs on the road. Kills me as they won't understand if I wave. Of course, lots of the MINIs don't seem to wave back either.
I can't wait to meet some of the Dynamic Mini Club of Arizona when they come up to join the Sin City members in June. I'd like to have the time to attend one of the big events so I could write something on that. Otto rules my life and I love every minute of it.

You just need the bumper sticker that says, "My other car can fit inside this one" and the MINI logo.Originally Posted by cloud10

I'll have to look for that one. It would be perfect! Originally Posted by SteveJ

Satch said he'll send a pdf. I think I can attach that here.
I think I'm attaching the pdf for my article. HOpe it works.
So far two people have told me I'm nuts.
I told them to never test drive a MINI unless they want to join us in the madness that is MINI.
I don't care. I LOVE my MINI!
If this attachment doesn't work I will email the article to anyone who is interested. I made the file smaller, but it doesn't seem to want to post.

I enjoyed reading it very much.
Thanks so much.
It was fun to write, but even more fun to live through. Now the wait for a new Cabrio is on. Have to sell the BMW first.

Congratulations, again, for having your adoption planning article published!
You are nuts, cloud10 - but I think probably a great percentage of people on these MINI boards are too, in their own ways.
I enjoyed the way you combined the idea of the planning, conception, birth, adoption (with a nod to pet adoption) and delivery throughout your article while keeping that thread of obsession and excitement idling just below the surface until that big day you picked up "Otto". Very well done! Now, about that kitchen....

Great article.
So now you're going to sell the beemer and get a convertible MINI?
You must have been bitten hard by the bug

Yes, the MINI has turned me into a juvenile delinquent. If a MINI event comes anywhere near my area I will lock my shop doors and go. It has opened up a completely new sense of freedom for me. Otto is always calling out to me. My shop property is for sale and few people come anymore anyway with the two Super Walmarts in town, so what the heck, let's motor.
As long as I keep my head to complete my proofreading jobs (my real job), then I'm free to play.
I love the BMW too, but there is a distinct difference in the two.
Whoever buys Buffy will have a wonderful car that after 6 years and 5,700 miles still smells new. Heck, she's never been in rain, snow, no passengers, but Otto has ruined me. The obsession continues.

Nevermind...I read more of the thread and see it's ok. Just don't want BMW-CCA giving us grief.
Satch is my car God and he has been so much fun to work with. He sent us a bottle of bubbly for Otto's arrival, but per his instructions we are waiting for a group of people to join in its uncorking. His instructions were to "open it with friends who have certain British cars." Neither Rich or I can drink, so for now it's chilling. Actually I hate to ever open it.

Just ran across your article in Roundel...I thought something about it seemed very familiar. That's when I realized I had read your posts in the "All aboard the Isolde" thread, my MINI was on the boat with Otto. It was nice to see a big MINI story in Roundel. Great article!
