Clear Bra Problems !!!!

Major Clear Bra Problems !!!
I got a Clear Bra put on by Mini of Towson in Maryland and the first time it orange peeled and I think it was due to the heat generated by the turbo as when I got it measured by Hypnohealer at his garage it measured over 210 degrees on the hood !!!!

Brad the Sales manager at Towson thought it might be put on badly so he wanted to do it over. So Brad was nice to have it replaced and after a week it has orange peeled again and this time its worse !!!

Sooooooo I am going to have them remove it and go with no clear bra since it cannot handle the heat generated by the turbo !!!

The hood gets so hot that you cannot touch it by bare hand as it WILL burn your skin !!!

Oh well ............... Christian

Hmmm weird. No problems with mine here. My installer used Llumar film.

I have the Mini Clear Bra Also

I had the full package done at the dealer they even covered the driving lights.

My hood gets hot. I have 1,600 miles on it now and have a three mile winding climb to the house that I have now done in sport mode a couple of times and the bra looks fine.

Maybe something is wrong with the insulation install under the hood.

I had Llumar installed yesterday and you can hardly even tell it is there since it is so clear.

Turbo or not, 200 degrees should be anticipated under certain conditions. Maybe they are using some cheap materials. Or, if the problem is only occurring in a certain place, maybe there is some substance or weird polymer on the hood there?

I have a clear bra on my 08 MCS and have not had any issues to date with yellowing or heat related bubbling. As a matter of fact with all the yellow Pine pollen, the bra is the least effected. The rest of the car is turning orange (red body + yellow pollen).

They are using a 3M product

Change the installer. I recommend Llumar clear bra films.

Naughty, naughty. I have always preferred "paint protection film" or "invisishield".

Christian,
I had mine installed by FrontGuard in Annapolis. It's 8 1/2 months old and it still looks amazing. Get your money back from MOT, get the heat issue resolved (make sure the hood scoop is opened up and not closed), then give FrontGuard a call. They will come out to your house and install it if you want. Good luck!

MoT used to use ProForm out of Ellicott City. But I heard the switched contractors. Shame.... ProForm has a great reputation and Rob is known as one of the best installers on the Eastern Seaboard.

Find out from MoT who they are using. If it is still ProForm, it's not a problem with the film or the install, it's the heat on your bonnet, I assure you. Nothing wrong with 3M film... it's among the best in the business.

I had the clear bra installed on my '07 MCS and have racked up close to 20K miles. The only problems I've had with the clear bra install have been on the rear view mirrors and the dealer has had the film replaced twice on the mirrors due to the edges curling and lifting a bit.

Sounds like a trip to the dealer is in order.

Does anyone have an opinion on using this film on "chrome" mirror caps?
