Programming Request !!

Is there a compiled list of programming options for the clubman?
It would be incredibly cool to get a list of all the cool programming things to tweek or customize. Some of the things I have read on this site and MiniUsa are confusing...or I'm to simple in respect to realizing if My vehicle actually has this capability to do what others are saying.
Can we start a thread to gives:
A: program items.
B: What option is necessary to enjoy this feature.
C: Procedure to program.
Then we can compile them into a document and publish for all to enjoy...

Example:
Description: Triple Turn Signal Flash
Option Needed: All Clubmans.
Procedure:
This sets whether the turn signal is to flash once or three times.
1. Put SET/INFO Mode.
2. Press Button on end of turn signal stalk until ++ is displayed.
3. Briefly press the button to select 1X or 3X
4. Press and hold the button untill the display changes.

Sorry but you're asking someone to copy half the manual. Feel free though!

Maybe a list of the top 10 or 15 would be best. I haven't gotten around to it yet, but I definitely need to solve the following:

1. Automatic door locks (so when you go 5mph it locks your doors).
2. Automatic shutoff of radio timer (so it doesnt play forever when I shut off the engine)

There probably aren't 15 things to program. Just read the manual.

If you want your radio to stop after you kill the engine press start/stop again with your foot off the pedals.

Picked up my car Friday afternoon Read the manual over the week-end. Everyday tried to get a few things programed and would refer to the manual and read again as I attempted to accomplished the setting I was looking for. This afternoon in my driveway finally got the doors to lock as the car started to move. FINISHED!!! Don't try and do everything at once, it gets very frustrating

Yes everything is in the manual but maybe a quick reference list would be helpful if you ever want to go back and quickly change a particular setting.

Yes, there's a compiled list. It comes with every new MINI, and lists all possible programming features, with illustrations of all the controls. It's highly recommended reading.

I'm amazed that people here seem to need to program things like the auto-locks, 3-blink lane-change indicators and auto-off for the radio as these are what we get out of the box in UK.

(The only thing I've changed is the sensitivity of my auto windscreen wipers as the factory settings weren't as I wanted them.)

What default settings do you get? Or do they have to be set differently for every State for some reason?

In my case, the dealer sent me a questionnaire asking what my preferences were (even down to favorite radio stations) and everything was pre-set when I arrived for delivery.

There's plenty of good reasons to recommend the manual, rather than a quick-tips thread too. For example, the turn signal example in the OP won't work for people with Sat Nav, since the turn signal options are then set in the Nav screen and don't show up in the OBC tach display anymore.

The whole thing would become such a huge mess of "If you have... otherwise if you have... or if you have..., if your build date is past...". It would probably be better to just have a designated thread to ask questions. Or just leave it for people to start a new topic, since hardly anyone checks for a Sticky before asking anyways. Just look at all the Bluetooth questions for an idea.

Now that's excellent pre-delivery service!

Full marks to your dealer; I just got mine as it left the factory, with an offer from the dealer to drop by or phone them if I got lost trying to change anything I didn't like.

Come on people.... it's not that difficult Read the manual first, then program what you want referring to your manual with the pictures! Good idea to do this in your drive way and not in traffic or while driving

I'm sure it's not that difficult for most of us, but I'd be thrilled if my MA sent me a detailed questionnaire because then I could enjoy the thrill of driving and decide later if I what I felt compelled to change! Either way, I'm thrilled to hear that we'll now have the ability to make these changes ourselves rather than having to bring the MINI in and pay for it.

Cuts labour cost for the dealer, so less cost and inconvenience for the owner too. And everyone can play to their heart's content, trying different settings whenever they want. (I soon got bored though and mainly stayed with the factory settings!)

They had their pluses and minuses, the wait from the local dealer was eight months at the time I placed my order, although it dropped to just over five months as other pre-orders ahead of me dropped out. So, the expectations were pretty high

dkamp--you are not alone, regardless of the comments here. Those who write the directions are humanly challenged! My wife got her car last week and we went through the direction and have only been somewhat successful. I had downloaded the 2007 manual in advance and had read through it and made my wife do the same before we took delivery. It took us over 1/2 hour to get the homelite garage door opener to work--it was easy, but not what what was in the manual. I do not think that the MAs are so busy that they can't spend a reasonable amount of time with their customers helping them to set up everything that the customer wants. It is not that their job is so difficult in that they don't have to negotiate sales price--MRSP; and they don't have to sell the car to the customers--so--YOU ARE RIGHT

If you are having difficulty with a particular item we would be willing to try and help if you email us. Also this will help me when I finally take delivery on our Clubman S in two weeks.

I've never had the confidence to order a car before I'd even seen and sat in one!

So to get yours so soon after launch doesn't seem bad to me. I placed a small holding deposit for mine in October, to book a build slot, confirmed it with my full spec and a proper deposit as soon as my dealer let me into a stock car the day before the November UK launch day, for December delivery, and I actually got it on 23 January.

Thanks Jeff S.
They are right, It is all there, and I didn't realize EVERYone else did it without any dificulty. I was just assuming there may be a few features not documented, and hoping to Glean from the posts. Obviously I am wrong. I did have alot of issues with the Garage Door opener. but figured it out in about 30 min. The only programming I have a question about is that I thought I read where someone said there was a way that the car would Lock and Set the alarm automatically without pressing the keyfaub or the button on the door. But I'm probibly wrong there also.

Everything is in the manual but IMHO it is poorly written. I have programmed a couple of items, but the process almost seems random as to what display comes next. In addition, the process for setting an item should always be the same. Some settings tell you to wait for the display to change for the setting to take effect and others tell you to press and hold the button. This causes unnecessary confusion. Shades of iDrive!

Having the NAV system makes programming a cinch as all the settings appear on the screen.

Yeah, rub it in. But seriously, so I have read - wish I could have sprung for that....but perhaps all this reading, etc., is good for our brain cells and will stave off the brain's aging process?

Great Thread!!!

I, for one, would like someone to tell me how to set the car so that everything turns off (including the radio) when I turn the car off.

Call me lazy, but it is a pain to have to press the button again to turn off the radio.

By the way... I (still) have a defective Nav unit (the display works) and a manual tranny.

Oh... and I looked in the manual and couldn't find what I needed.

Thanks,

Turning off every powered accessory on my car is just Creature of Habit for me. Molly isn't Home yet so I'm sure I will need to find a Shut Down Procedure once she does.

I'm taking delivery of my Clubman onThursday and I'm going to be interested in seeing what the factory default setting are on everything. I like a car that operates like a 1965 Ford Falcon. I don't want a car to do anything for me, beyond what is required to drive from point A to point B. Don't lock the doors, don't roll up/down the windows, don't leave the lights on when I leave the car, etc. If I need something, I just want a **** to turn, a button to push or a handle to pull. Anything else is just an annoyance to me.If Mini allows me to shut off all those conveniences, I will be a happy camper.
