Cabrio Tailgate adjustment?

I noticed earlier this week that my cabin light was coming on while driving - then noticed that the bonnet/boot warning light was coming on also. Turns out that the left side of my boot isn't closing quite flush - as a result, it isn't depressing the plunger switch far enough - so on bumps, etc. is thinks it's open...

Anyone have an experience or knowledge of adjusting the latch to correct this problem? Dealer is 2 hours away - so I'd rather not go there just for this...

I've heard a rumor about this, and I'm having the same problem occasionally. I figure I can wait until the 10k oil change, as it is very intermittent. You might try a search in one of the problem threads. I think I read about a service bulletin.

I used to have this problem all the time before my accident. Since I got my car back, it hasn't happened once

It was a known problem with the 'verts. You dealer should be able to adjusted fairly easy.

Just trying to avoid a special trip to the dealer...

I put a little piece of foam tape on the tailgate where the switch strikes it - that solved the intermittant lighting issue for now. But in my case, the left side of the tailgate is probably 2-3 mm from being flush - right side is nice and flush. So if I could adjust the latch, that should do it. I'll tear into it this weekend...

The dealers know about this issue but it's not recall priority. I was having the exact same problem with mine. When I took it for service, I told them about it and they replaced the switch with one with a longer plunger.

I also tried adjusting the boot but that didn't solve the issue.
