How did it take me so long to post in this thread?

Depends on time of day / venue for me...

Standards include:
Highway to Hell (live) - AC/DC
Stairway to Heaven (live) - Led Zeppelin
Don't Fear the Reaper - BOC
Bad to the Bone - G. Thorogood
Tell it like it T-I-Is - B52s

But there's about 200 more that probably would make my top 5...

But at Midnight on the Dragon, I drove top down on the way up with:
Supercharger screaming
Exhaust growling
Wind blowing
Tires squealling
Heart Pounding

And on the way back down, I cranked up The Crystal Method's Legion of Boom - which felt like it was recorded specifically as a Midnight on the Dragon soundtrack... I could have done that all night long.

Good Beats

1. "Let Me Entertain You" - Robbie Williams (he's huge in England)
2. "American Life" (the remix) - Madonna (brief shout out to MINI in this song)
3. "Move Along" - All American Rejects
4. "The Sweet Escape" - really almost anything by Gwen Stefani
5. "Hella Good" - No Doubt

Try them out and let me know what you think!...Teena

Top 5 in no particular order -

Hot Rod Lincoln - the Bill Kirchen live version (check it out if you have not heard it)
Sweet Jane - by Mott the Hoople or Lou Reed/Velvet Underground or Cowboy Junkies or . . . pretty much any version
Brontosaurus - The Move (turn the bass up)
Wipe Out - Surfaris (Gotta have 1 surfer song in the top 5 for convertibles!)
Friends in Low Places - Garth Brooks (the only song by Garth I like!)

i play a LOT of tom petty when the top's down. well, ok, i play a lot of tom petty period.

a couple of pettys that are particularly suited to open road cruising: the "highway companion" album, especially the first cut, "saving grace." also classic: "runnin' down a dream."

Runnin' Down A Dream
by Tom Petty

It was a beautiful day, the sun beat down
I had the radio on, I was drivin'
Trees flew by, me and Del were singin' little Runaway
I was flyin'

[Chorus:]
Yeah runnin' down a dream
That never would come to me
Workin' on a mystery, goin' wherever it leads
Runnin' down a dream

I felt so good like anything was possible
I hit cruise control and rubbed my eyes
The last three days the rain was un-stoppable
It was always cold, no sunshine

[Chorus]

I rolled on as the sky grew dark
I put the pedal down to make some time
There's something good waitin' down this road
I'm pickin' up whatever's mine

[Chorus Out]

also: pulling out of the garage for the drive to adult swim at the local pool on sunday mornings, "ain't wastin' time" by the allman brothers is another good choice. alas, it'll be a while before that scene repeats. it's november in illinois. top's been up for two solid weeks; more of that to come, alas.
