Problems?!?!?

I decided to get a vert when they are about to stop taking orders like i did with my hardtop mini. I was wondering what problems you guys have had with the verts. Leave out NO details. Thanks.

I had the DSC computer replaced. But that was apparently a fluke. The SA told me that I was only the second one that had been replaced at that dealership in 4 years. Other than that, I love mine. Good luck.

Convertible problems

The only problem we had with our '06 cabrio (built mid'05) was a strap on the convertible top that broke and was replaced by the dealer. There was a service bulletin issued concerning that problem and ours was 'upgraded'. I think the most common complaints were wear spots on the rear of the top by the C pillar and crescent shaped scratches on the rear windows. Both problems were addresses in service bulletins from a few years ago. One thing that I have to give MINI credit for is that when any problems arose they seemed to be reasonably responsive issuing a service bulletin and changing the design of the top to accomodate. Someone recently posted some of the convertible service bulletins and one mentioned that the tops manufactured after mid' 06 incorporated a lock pin in the top when it was in the folded position.

My 05 had the wear-spot problem at the fold over the driver's door. . . but MINI replaced the whole top at no cost.
so I agree that their reponse has been exemplary so far . . but I do wonder what will happen if I develop these problems post-warranty.

DSC light refused to go off so switch bank was replaced
On second replacement top do to white wear spots. The problem now seems to be resolved.
Mini has been great in addressing these issues. All was fixed in a timely manner.

I've had my baby for 2 years and have spent so much time at the dealer that I know the cleaning lady by name.

Too many problems to list, but mine is the exception, not the rule.
33k miles, 2 new tops, squeeks, rattles, check engine light they can't diagnose, stress crack in windshield, 2 air bag sensors.....uh, there's more too.

I remedied it by placing an order for the new 07 laser blue vert. I'll let you know how that one goes.

24.5K miles; on my second top (roof wear issue); needs an adjustment due to new "wind noise", second windshield (gonna probably happen yearly), rear seat latch broke so that one of the seats wouldn't fold down, dust/debri gets in behind speedometer crystal throught the "trip reset" hole, and scratches made by the dumb%*#^s at the dealership who washed it without asking me first (won't happen again).

Only the top and rear seats were covered by MINI.

That said, I still love my JIMI and don't regret a thing.

Which tires did you go with? I'll be ditching my RFs when the time comes.

1) Back-up alarm quit working last week (posted a question in the Problems/Issues forums that has had zero replies, so it appears that's isolated).
2) the plastic insert where the foglights would go if I had them has fallen out- will get the dealer to fix when I take it in for first service
3) I should have noticed and done something sooner, but I do notice a pull to the left on straight roads. No unusual tire wear, so I've procrastinated doing anything about it.

That's it in 12k and one year (Thursday) of frequently top-down motoring. no top issues that I've noticed, and squeeks/rattles are pretty minimal.

7 months, 10,000 miles, and no issues at all.

Can't wait till it gets warmer so I can motor top down again.

Wait, I left out the biggest problem I've had. Once in a while, especially this month, it's too cold to put the top down.

Here is my biggest problem: I am going to get a traffic ticket if I am not careful.

I have never owned (and that includes my current track-prepped Porsche) a car that is more fun to drive on city streets then my mini MCSCW. I just love the way I can cut through traffic (I am in NH so we are not talking grid lock here - more of a moderate flow) safely with this car. It fits into the smallest of spaces and it has more than enough zip (mine is a JCW) to take advantage of gaps in traffic without tailgating anyone or cutting anyone off. Additionally, it is far too cute of a car for anyone to get upset with me (but I aim to avoid that anyway.) And it is so small and subtle (being a cabrio and not an obvious speedy car) that I feel like I am nearly invisible to the LEOs. They do not even look at me when I see them perched by the side of the road. Plus I have a V1 detector wired in and that investment pays for itself again and again.

My MCSc won't start when it rains. It refuses to come out of the garage unless the sun in shining! Other than that, haven't owned it long.

It seems that there are less top problems with the 06's than the 05. Pretty much everyone I know that owns at 05 has had at least one top replaced. I"m hoping that my 07 will have less problems!!

Yours too? I can usually coax mine out by offering it a cookie.

Your power steering fan is going out. As stupid as that sounds...mine did the same thing. The fan is shorting and blowing the fuse and in MINI-wisdom the PS fan and the backup sensor's are on the same fuse.

The took the whole inside of my car apart trying to figure THAT one out because they thought there was a short in the harness.

As far as problems, I've had a few with the top but they put the bump stops in so that it doesn't rub on itself as much and that seems to have resolved that. The cresent shapes on the side glass was also fixed without any problems.

I've been 10,000% happy with the car and I'm planning my new one!

Just FYI, the 2007 MINI Convertible is carryover from 2006, with the exception of 2 new exterior colors and the "Sidewalk"edition.
