Does anyone have some insight as to whether Mini will continue production of its current Mini Convertible until they have a replacement convertible on their new 2007 platform. BMW seems to introduce one model of their new 3-series platform (usually the 4-door), and continues production of their coupes and convertibles on the older platform, for a year or so. Since the Mini plant will be closed for an extended period until January 13th 2006, are they retooling to allow capacity to be able to make 2 platforms simultaeously at the end of the 2006 model year?

The new convertibles will be out spring 2008. Until then the current model will be produced though there may be limited numbers available due to the re-tooling of the assembly lines for the next gen. I would also assume these will still have the Tritec engines.
