Anyone order a MCSC with CVT?

I have a Aunt who wants a MCSC with CVT and loaded but her dealer wouldn't even take a deposit because they didn't even know when those would be built. That seems odd to me.

Has anyone ordered a MCSC with CVT yet and taken delviery or have gotten a production date yet? Or is that for a later release in the year like LSD was.

I don't know who would want an S covertible with CVT but she does. Lots of hills and city driving... I could see that but not for me

The S model does not come with a CVT. It is a regular geared 6 -speed auto with shift paddles.

Lotsa people can only drive an automatic but they still want the power of the S.

Is it like Tip-tronic that it will shift automatically if you don't shift in time?

No, I believe they call this a steptronic. The transmission has four modes:

D Auto - General cruising, the car shifts for you. Emphasis on comfort and gas mileage.

S Auto - Sport mode, car shifts for you. Emphasis on a quicker, sportier ride.

Both of the above modes can be switched to manual shift mode, where you use the paddles on the wheel to shift up and down. Seems to me that this would be just a third mode, but Mini says that the manual mode in both D and S are separate.

Very few have driven this transmission yet. We eagerly await detailed reviews. There is alot of information in the Detroit Press release, but it's hardly objective.

Cooper S's are able to be ordered NOW in an Automatic transmission. Production on the Auto S started January 1, 2005. Your local dealer's availability will determine when you will actually take delivery. For Instance, Here in Indy we're able to order anything you'd like now for a March or April delivery!

Motoring.....
