The wife was out doing her thing so that gave me some free time to work on the R52.
I installed the 2 new rear speaker covers. When I bought the car one was broken and the other was completely missing. I also installed a new rear emblem. Old and broken New hotness Very worn and discolored, someone had super glued it on Hell yea, much better
I need a new front Mini badge; I need to repaint the hood scoop because the clear coat is flaking. I need an interior rear-view mirror; the auto tilt isn't working. I also need to replace the center arm rest top, it won't lock shut. I would also like to replace the hood stripes; they look pretty rough.
Once I get my Escalade back from the body shop, I am going full bore on a 100-thousand-mile service, I am also installing a new water pump, new oil pan gasket, new poly lower control arm bushings with new ball joints and super charger service.
I need an interior rear-view mirror; the auto tilt isn't working..
"Auto Tilt"???? Do you mean "auto dimming? Our mirrors don't "tilt"
put some black tape over the sensor on the back of the mirror facing the front of the car.....the dimming feature is sometimes very slow to react, or sometimes not at all. Check your fuses. You don't want to buy a new one, especially if yours has the Home-link feature with the three little garage door buttons on the bottom left corner....that mirror is $750 from the dealer, plus shipping from Germany
Mine were missing too but the guy I bought the car from had bought a set of rear panels from a junk car and I was able to cut the melted plastic on the back and remove them from the panel and use screws into the pegs to hold them on. You would never know from the front and way cheaper than buying a new set.
the screens are missing off both rear speakers on my R52 also....but after looking at that eBay price.....they are gonna stay missing

They were pricey, I paid $127 each but it makes the interior so much better. I am a stickler for details and I'm keeping it forever so I want to make it as nice as I can.
They have long tabs that go thru the holes and you are supposed to use Lock Ring Star Washer Circlips to hold them on. I used some that I got at my local hardware store and I paid like $2.50 for 10 instead of $5 bucks each for Mini ones.
Next is replacing those broken air deflector pieces on both sides above the speakers.
I had to change the 1 air deflector grommet. Not easy to find in the cordoba color. Plus you have to take the whole panel back off to replace them. I'm surprised you didn't break any clips removing the panel. Mine had a bunch of broken clips so I ordered a bunch of each color and replaced them. Now I'm hoping I don't break any when I remove the panel to replace the speakers with new oem HK speakers I bought.
They all broke and I am going to order new ones. I wasn't in a big hurry since I have to take the panel off again to do those grommets.
Usually, I don't have a game plan, I just kind of fix or replace whatever is bugging me the most at that time. Right now I am jumping back and forth between 2 Mini Coopers and a Cadillac Escalade.
I know what the OEM mirror is.....as I said before, they don't automatically and physically "tilt".....but at the $750+ price they want for one....it better be able to do anything I want it to
I installed my amazon armrest top yesterday and it works great, it works a lot better than the original broken one. I also installed a phone holder that mounts to the back of the gauges. I like the phone holder so much I am going to buy one for the R50. Still waiting on the wind deflector bracket things to arrive. Next is to do is the supercharger and 100-thousand-mile service.
What phone mount did you go with. My wind deflector grommet took a while to get if I remember right. I'm only at 66k and as little as the car gets driven it will be a long time before my supercharger needs service. Thank God because even though people who have done it say taking the front end off isn't that hard it scares the crap out of me. Looks like a lot of disassembly to get to the supercharger.
Are you afraid of doing this? I did this after owning the car for 3 weeks. I've never done an S engine so I'm sure it is a lot different.
New radiator, AC compressor, new condenser, inner and out joints, control arm bushings, new water pump and hoses, t-fitting.
Yes that. I'm sure there are clips that break taking all that apart. I did inner and outer joints on mine from the side. Luckily the control arm bushings were done with powerflex by a previous owner.
I've gotten really good at putting the R50 in front end service mode, I can have it done in about 15 minutes now. No real clips to break. Mainly a bunch of bolts.
I have to do the same exact thing to Cabrio. Right now, I am knee deep in rebuilding the front end of my Escalade, new oil pan gasket and pick up tube O-ring. All new suspension parts and shocks all the way around. I should have a majority of it done tomorrow.
