Simple question that has been bugging me since I noticed it. What are the numbers that flash on the Odometer at start-up. It is replaced with the miles on the vehicle after a second or so.

Mine is like -15,000 miles. Too much trouble to reset the clock.

I guess it means I forfeit the right to join a class action suit that the Tritec engine does not last 500k miles.

 

Thanks. That was my initial guess but I was thrown off by the number. It was around 12000 right after I bought the car and had a complete service. (200 miles after the selling dealership did an oil change that I assume was non-synthetic oil.) I just noticed it again this week when it was at 9800.

The only way I would ever go 12,000 miles in any car without an oil change is if I knew I was not keeping it beyond 12,000 miles and the car had absolutely no value.
