2005 convertible roof catching the rear seat roll bar
Hi , I have a 2005 Mini Cooper S R52.
My Wife and I got it last year and when we went to buy it, it just happened to be raining.
I know I shouldn't have taken the guys word that the roof was fine.Well we drove it for a while, up here in Michigan without the chance for a few weeks to drop the top down.
When we did we found that the roof retracts the first stage back to the middle , the latches release and the hydraulics move the roof back over.
However when it reaches the rear seat roll over bars, the roof basically dragged over the bar and slightly damaged the canvass. So I manually helped the roof back up.
I have completely stripped the front section down to find why the forward section doesn't move the full distance back but to no avail.
I have made sure that the side rails move as far as the latch mechanism will allow
I have done numerous things on top of this but was looking for some direction here.
Any body have any insights into this I would appreciate it.

Hello, The sunroof section might not slide back all the way do to the points on the cables. Also there is adjustment on the top.
Has the cables been replaced? When they are not set in all the way correctly , they can stop short. You have to push the sunroof all the way closed , then install the sunroof motor to line up the cables. The hall sensors then adjust for the start stop points.

Has the top been adjusted., The rear section when adjusted correct just clears the rear roll bar by a few Miliimeters.
Read up on how things work and then compare it to yours.
