Hello everyone im new to this forum with a 05 r52 non-s mini and i bought the car a couple weeks ago and the convertible top never worked so i took off the cap on the main beam where the sunroof motor is and found it was unplugged i plugged it in and pushed the button for the top to go back but heard an unbearable grinding noise from the sunroof motor the motor spins but the gears its supposed to spin dont they are jammed im asumming nd im wondering what is wrong or what i should do?!

 

The top is a complicated thing. It is also very expensive to fix. You need to find a shop to fix it that knows convertibles and prepare yourself for a pretty big bill.
