top won't go pass sunroof position

I have an 05 and my roof decided to go south and I'm out of warranty so any help would be great.

I can open the top to the sunroof stage. And when I continue to hold down the open button the latch mechanism opens about an inch than it stops and the red light flashes. I've checked the parcel shelf and that wasn't the problem. I can manually put the roof down, but then I would have to raise the roof up manual, and once I get the latch to sit on the pillars I can go ahead and push the button to close the roof and everything is fine at that point.
Is there any other sensors I can look for? Or a way to test the parcel shelf sensors?

I've read through many posts but most were the broken cable or parcel shelf. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

My wife's 07 Cabrio did this and it was a faulty sensor. I don't know where it's located though as Baron fixed under warranty. Any update?

It's currently raining here, so I haven't investigated much further. I did notice another thing.,once the hood unlatches the hydraulics portion runs but the roof still wouldn't fold. So my other guess would be.my hydraulics. I'm hoping It's not cause it looks like it'll be a 1k part.

check your rear deck lid. under the passenger side towards the rear there is a dead switch, if the rear deck is just a 1/4" up then the pin is up and the power is cut to the top. When you push the button does the light on the top closed button flash? if so that is mst likely the case or htat sensor has gone bad. since it is just a simple style pin switch (a little nices one and more $$$) you can simply test it by completing the circuit before you go buy a new one.

Good luck.

Thanks for the tip. I'll give that a try. It's been cold lately so haven't had the urge to drop the top so I haven't really looked into other fixes. But will probably need to do so since spring is just around the corner.
