Never used rain x but a good question. I'll sit and wait with you for an authority to respond.

I presume you're worried about overspray and that you're not purposely putting the Rain-X on the top.

That would be my concern as I'm sure it's the OP's as well. Only thing that gets sprayed on my canvas on purpose is RaggTopp. Overspray of any kind on any surface not the target is always a bit of worry until all the facts are in.

That's what I was figuring. The first thing to do is find out what's in the product. That can be done by going here: http://www.southwinltd.com/msds.html

Then, with that information, I'd contact the manufacturer of the top material which is most likely these guys: http://www.haartz.com/en/

Then see what they say. Likely it's not going to be anything that'll really bother the top material. I'd also contact someone in the technical department of Rain-X as well and see what they say. And I'm thinking that if the top is properly protected (like with Ragg Topp), windshield washer fluids really aren't going to be a problem.

I would assume that an engineer somewhere, sometime may have thought of that and made allowances but then look at the Gen 1 arm rest and co-pilot's airbag sensor.
