R52 SmartTOP for Mini Convertible R52
SmartTOP for Mini Convertible R52
This seems like a great upgrade, however opening/closing the roof without running the engine, is a very heavy toll on the MINI's battery. Especially because a built-in SatNav (a common accessoiry for a convertable) will also keep draining your battery all night long. So you wouldn't want to do that too often. You'll will easily get stuck one day with an dead battery. (speaking from experience, and that was with a proper, new battery).
I would be interested in this device also. I purchased the Easy Up Circuit (see: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...r-cabrios.html ) until the vendor quit responding because of failure of the circuit when it was hot.
However, in 2011, he implied that he fixed the problem with some work around. Look at the end of the posts and see for yourself. After multiple uninstall and reinstall, I kind of quit. I am not sure I want to spend $260 for Smart Top and take apart the back seat.
Hoping to hear your decision and experience

That's looks like a nice mod, but like marcel74 mentioned I would not use the automatic close or open too much, because I think it would really do a number on your battery.
Will add to my wish list though, because I think opening and closing the top while the vehicle is moving is beneficial (actually also dangerous
).
Be very careful I can already see the video on YouTube "Mini Cooper roof files off on freeway"
The mods looks fun though. If you get it, please report back.
