R52 MINI Cabrio
NO prices yet. They expect the cooper version to go to production around June/July time frame. With the S version a few months later. I'm waiting for the S version so I'm guessing December/January time frame. Which means I get to go through the whole anticipation routine again. I waited six months on my first S.
On the girl car comment, well first off I think this topic has been pretty much beat to death. I dealt with these comments when I had my Miata and they didn't bother me then and there not about to bother me now. If you have issues with the male/female aspect of your car then buy a truck and don't sweat it.

I had a hard time holding my tongue for six months about that one  Actually I eluded to it on my site a couple time over the past year.

is it just me or is the surround on the front grill completely smooth? not separated like current models?

>>Good call. I wonder if that's part of the '05 facelift or Cabrio specific. It's kind of hard to tell from the spy shots, but I'm thinking it's an '05 thing for all models.
what you're seeing is what the 2005 Cooper will look like.

Cosmetically, it's not a radical change, but rather a minor facelift. That's a relief for me! I just purchased a 2004 and I don't want my car to look outdated in just a year.

I wonder if it can be retrofitted or is it part of the entire console? I can surely make use of additional storage space.

Will there be different colors for the Cooper Cabrio and the S Cabrio, as there are with the MC and MCS? Or will you be able to get either the orange or the blue on both the Cooper and S versions of the Cabrio?
Are there any picures of the "Cool Blue" color out there? (On a car; I've seen a swatch in DiD's VPC tour thread.)

It looks really good, better than I expected. Those rims look awesome.
The thing I don´t like are the new bumper covers. I love the current chrome bumper inserts on the regular Cooper, and the new ones are not that different from a Cooper S
I wonder why they didn´t develop projector headlamps, like on the BMWs?
If the MINI Convertible is going to become a girl´s car... I´d be happy to ride on the passenger seat!

According to Bridger.us/mini, the new Cabrio models will be $5K more expensive than thier hardtop counterparts. So a base Cooper Cabrio will be $22K and a MCS cabrio around $24K-$25K to start.
These cars are heavier too, due to the extra reinforcements they had to add to prevent chassis flexing, cowl shaking and loss of body integrity. The MCS convertible is rumored to have a 170HP engine standard. I wonder if the Cooper Cabrio will be going up as well from the current 115HP to at least 125-130HP?
The car is very nice. Just convertibles are not my thing. Also I don't like the fact this car is heavier than the hardtop models, it is so much more expensive and heck, can't put a flag decal on the roof
.
The insurance costs on a MCS Convertible with JCW must be HOT, HOT! But at least this car will be an excellent running mate against a BMW M3 or Audi TT and even VW's beetle cabrio 1.8T turbo.

Oh no! Did they do away with the fender marker lights? I think those are one of the best features on a MINI. Still, I think it looks very cool. Better than I thought from the earlier spy photos. I'm not a fan of the body color dash/door panels though. It's a bit ricey for my tastes. The same goes for the carbon fiber dash on the MC40, but that's another thread.
