My wife is always complaining about the tailgate being broken and not opening. Then I unlock the car, and it opens right away. lol.

My trunk/boot stopped working. I tested the switch and motor and everything worked well.I traced all the wires from the trunk/boot all the way to the Central Module Control Unit. All the wires were in good shape. Can a Central Locking System ONLY lock and unlock the doors and leave the trunk/Boot locked?. Thank you in advance for any help

Confirming the fuses are F23and F37.
they are located in the fuse box on the left drive side panel by the pedals.
I have. R52 06 Cooper S Convertible.

upraded radio, everything worked great. Today I installed backup camera. It’s working butt the tailgate handle won’t open the door. Wanna start with the fuses. Make sure I didn’t burn a fuse while doing theinstall
thank you

All the wiring was good. All the fuses was good. The Control Module somehow will not open the trunk. I just rewired everything to bypass the CM. Now it works. Good luck

A lot of wires had to be cut and a new power supply installed.

If the tailgate handle button worked to open the trunk before installing the backup camera, and now it doesn't, I would start there.

Where did you install the backup camera? What did you remove to install it? What wiring did you move or alter? My experience tells me there is something in backtracking those steps that will confirm what changed and why the trunk handle button stopped working.

Thank you,
I installed it on the license plate., upgraded radio last week and all worked great. tapped in to the revers light wire (passenger side), grounded a wire on the metal surface where the spare tire resides. took both panels off to check if any loose or cut wires. Did not notice any. Hate when I do upgrades and spend hours working on them, to find out other stuff stopped working.
