Boot won't open

I have an 05 cooper s vert . My boot won't open. When I touch the wire or the latch while its open it makes the shoooka shoooka shoooka noise, but it won't open once latched except for with the pull cord. Any tips what I should look at?
Thanks

I would start by pulling the cord under the seat to open the hatch. The remove the inner plastic panel covering the wiper motor and boot lock. Once you have everything exposed try to re-create the "shooka shooka" noise. Now you will be able to better see what's going on. You may just need to adjust or lube the actual lock to free a bind with some lube. Since you're hearing a noise, I don't thing your actuator is bad. It sounds like it's trying to unlock the door but is bound somehow.

Good luck!

I'm not sure if this will help or not but here is a link where a member apparently had moisture in his latch causing a similar problem.

Just at a glance, it seemed to be relevant to your issue.

Common issue with water getting in the handle and stopping the latch from working. Once it dries out it works again. Solution is to try to water proof it with sealant or replace the foam backing pad on the handle. They don't have it separately, so it has to be home made. Solution at dealer is to buy a whole new handle. Pft!
