Mini Cooper Roof wouldn't close

My roof wouldn't open after a flat battery, so I jump started the car and the roof kicked into life (although only offering a sun-roof partial opening). The problem fixed itself, presumably because the windows went up and down a few times and I though the issue had gone away. It hadn't.

The battery was clearly on its last legs and died whilst the roof was down - nightmare. A new battery was installed and this didn't allow the roof to close hence I turned to this post. Tried the windows up down sequencing suggested in an earlier post without the engine running and it didn't work. Having read this post I tried again WITH the engine running and put the windows through several cycles. Now the roof appears to be working again - wanted to back up the solution, and also say thank you. Fingers crossed it's a permanent fix.

2005 mini cooper reseting the power top cycle
instruction , when installing a new battery or
battery is low , the power top will stop working.

1. Disconnect the negative terminal to battery for 10minutes
make sure the battery is a good battery and fully charged up.
2. Connect negative terminal to battery
3. Start the engine .
4. press the window button down and hold it until it drops all 4 windows
5. Press the window button up button and hold it until rows up all 4 windows
6. Do this 2 times so it cycles through
7. now try your power top button to see if top operates.
8. Make sure your F3 F15 fuse are all good and
trunk is close and rear shelf is pressing on the micro switch inside trunk
by the latch on the left side.
9. Make sure you start your engine and leave running until you use the power top option button.

2006 mini s turbo convertible top motor running but wont close

2006 mini s turbo convertible top motor running but wont close. Top opens with no issue but needs manual assistance to start the closing sequence. I have to hold down the close button and pull up manually on the roof frame until it gets past a certain point and then it will close on its own. I have checked the power steering fluid as I was informed that the roof operation uses that fluid as a "hydraulic" type of fluid but it was full. I did notice before it stopped working on its own that it was operating slower than normal then it just crapped out entirely.

Have a 2004 Mini Convertible. Roof was working fine until it was valeted. The Valet said he didn't take the roof down when cleaning.
Now its not working at all like there is no power to the Sunroof part. No Noise or indication that its attempting to open.
I have checked the boot switch and latches and the fuses in the footwell (F15) there is no red light when i use the roof down button,

I have disconnected the battery and cycled the windows ie Pres windows open button until all 4 are open held for 4 sec then closed and held for 4 seconds ( Is this correct ?)
This has not reset anything I can see,

Help appreciated

Cheers

Hi when you say you have to remove the fuse box to get to the lower fuses... any tips on that ? What do you have to remove?

Two bolts that hold it in on the ends

Then on the back side you dont have too unplug, just flip it to you see the little book icon trim cover, it should be in there.

Hi Thats brilliant thanks why didn't I think of that ;-)
I did remove the two bolts and the live to the unit after removing the Battery of course but I couldn't seem to lift the unit up to see underneath - feels like there are a lot of wires still connected. Any advice
Didnt want to pull it to hard in case dislodged something. My Sunroof wont open so trying to check the fuse Fl3 that's underneath before take it to garage as I have done everything suggested on this forum

You might need to get it from the side, its not going to flip over, not enough slack. Otherwise you would have to disconnect the battery and unplug it.

OK took the battery off and the battery cowling along with the CPU. Managed to get to the bottom of the fuse box but gave up as couldn’t see the fuse I was looking for!
looks like a trip to the garage to see what’s up with the roof! Beyond my capabilities for now.
Thx for the help 👍

when you say "got to the bottom of the fuse box" did you actually get that little door[flap] open? you need a small screwdriver to pry it open

After a lot of effort. I have found that you DO have to remove the ECU and the airbox and from them you can in fact flip it over to the side and get to the fuses underneath.

However, I can't find a diagram of what each of these fuses do? Anyone know where it is? I have a 50-100-40-50-50 amp fuse setup currently.
