Kinda off topic a bit, but I just had to take my 2007 MCS Cabrio in for service(check engine light came on). Come to find out, it was misfiring and losing compression. After a week of troubleshooting and conversing with the Mini Engineers, they have decided 'Lucy' needs a new engine. Ordered yesterday. I asked about whether or not they are replacing it with a 'supercharged' or the new 'turbo'. They will be putting the Supercharged back in it as that is what's original to the car. I'm surprised they didn't try to squeak the Turbo in on me.......

Simple fact is: he has a buyer looking for a car like yours and he will sell yours to them for at least what your wanting so he's low balling you to increase his profit margin. Tell him to Kiss your... I know of no one having to give away thier well taken care of SC cars and I've as of yet had a turbo Mini pass me on the track or street... SUPERCHARGERS FOREVER!!!!

I do agree, car salesmen are crooks, but they are trying to pay bills too, and they've have had an especially hard year!

My mom has a first get Cabrio S, and it is what really turned me on to the MINI. So i owe the first gen a
"BOV"... short for ... Bovines?

Yes, thank your mom and give her a hug from me!

All you can do is turn the sound level to -6 in the stereo settings.

I tried that, but it automatically sets the chime volume based the volume level of the stereo. Its funny because when i have the stereo turned way up and say i open the door, it chimes really loud! So annoying. Its like i can't get away from it!! Is your '07 not like this?

Indeed. This is why you can buy a MC with an automatic tranny.

Where I purchased my '06 S, I could have gotten essentially the same vehicle, same mileage, less options, in an 07 S, for $3K more.

So '06 MCS for the win.

Man.......tough room

1st gen, 2nd gen.......they are both great cars. I prefer the interior of the 1st gen, but like some of the refinements of the 2nd gen (although, I didn't find the ride that much different when I tried out a friends 08 or a 2010 at the dealers)

As for the salesman saying that the turbo killed supercharged sales...of course it's not true...he's just trying to justify his offer. I have been a salesman my whole adult life......my job is to make as much profit as possible. That's just the nature of the business.

it's a business. you can almost always sell for more yourself than to a dealer. this is true with most used cars.

e.g. when i was selling my MINI the dealer only offered 9.5 k eventhough my 2002 had only 40k miles and was evaluated as excellent condition by them.

my s2k was evaluated at 6k. I ended up selling it for 10.5k privately.
