R52 Dogs in the Cabrio?
Janet, do you have more photos of your beautiful Cabrio? I'm leaning toward ordering a 2009 and debating between Sparkling Silver and White Silver, Sidewalk flavor.
Suddenly my budget constraints have flown out the window.

Sure....how many would you like? LOL Actually, I've seen the white silver, also and if I had to choose between that and mine it would be a tough decision. But here's a couple of mine.

Go to Craig's List for Los Angeles and the Bay Area. The dealers often post beautiful pics of all color MINIs, for browsers, even for those who tease about putting a deposit on a Chili Red cabrio.

Sidenote: Maybe you get a dispensation and forgiveness because there are no bad MINIs. When you can afford to take your pick all are good colors and it's a tough decision.
Bonus Comment: If you get a 2009 cab isn't there a long wait until those come out? Can the pooches wait that long?

Here is an example, of a Craig's ad for the silver MINI cabrio:

By the way, for two months I looked at Craig's ads to window shop. I always looked forward to new ads, with new pics.
True Confession: I still look at the ads. But don't tell the Red Gnat.

this decision has been driving me nuts... I was soooooooo close to snatching up that 08 Cabrio, but I decided I want to wait for the more fuel efficient engine. Also, I want to order my Mini exactly how I want it (as yet to be determined, ha-ha). While Chili Red is a great color, the last 3 cars I have purchased have been a variant of red and I'm ready for a change.
I will be able to configure and order my Mini around September and take delivery around February. It's a long wait, but I'm a patient person when I really know what I want--so now I have time to figure that out.
I know, I'm a dog abusing thug for making them wait.

You can go to MINI's website and played with the color changer thingy? It's therapeutic and great time waster.

Also, eBay sellers often post beautiful pics.

Silver looks very elegant [without stripes]. It upscales the MINI to looking like a $40,000 car, I think.
IMHO MINI cab colors evoke the following:
Elegance / Luxury - Silver, black, pepper white.
Sport - British racing green, red, yellow.
Unique / different - Orange, metallic blue
Have you posted a pic of the dogs so we can opine what color MINI would go with them? I think that's critical. I guess silver would go with any color pooch.
Sidenote: Although I don't have a pic of mine, here is my first silver car. Unlike the MINI, this British car was in the shop during the week and running fine on the weekends. Although a valuable car, mechanically it was a real POS.

So, back to dogs in cabrios. Both of ours love taking rides in my wifes car. Griffen, a 125 lb Anatolian Shepard/Great Pyr mix, is taller than my wife when he sits in the back. Abby, a 55 lb (puppy) Bernese Mtn. dog, also sits in back but usually lays down and then Griffen steps on her head. In this pic she was only about 30lbs.

Given you never know how an animal will react in a car and for absolute safety, I think one should always harness the pet no matter how well behaved the pooch is.
And of course there's the damage aspect, from the dog "overly enjoying" the ride. The big concern is resale value. Trying to sell a MINI that has been trashed because of the dog having a party in the back may be difficult or at least cause a reduction in sales price.
So in addition to a harness, if it were me, I'd get those really nice seat covers that the one member posted he has. They are expensive but they are excellent quality and will protect the back area when Fido enjoys the ride.
Yep, it's much safer to harness a dog, even in a hardtop. In an accident, an unrestrained dog can become a projectile, be seriously injured and potentially injure other passengers.
Note that it is NOT safe to secure them with their collar.
ChubbyChecker, those are a couple of GORGEOUS dogs!

Note what this eBay seller says about his MINI and the pooch:
Classy pure silver metallic and blue leather interior with blue top 2005 MINI Cooper S convertible for auction. It's just us, two horses and a dog... It has never been smoked in and I have always used a dog cover for the back seat. ... I am currently getting 28.6 MPG but only drive it in the city and suburbs.

Yes you do. Wouldn't go anywhere without it!
