Apologies if I posted this in the wrong place, but this is my first post on this forum. A thief sliced my car roof. It's a huge cut, very close to the support struts, so it may be unrepairable without replacing the whole roof. Dealer wants very high price, ($2K - $3K+) to fix it. Does anybody know if there is an aftermarket product, or know of anybody who can do a cheaper fix, (or repair, if possible)? Ideally in Southern CA.

Thanks

Dave

Mods, please move to the 1st gen cabrio forum.

I know there was a vendor here a while back that was advertising some aftermarket roofs for the MINI cabrio... but they were being sold as aesthetic upgrades vs. OEM replacements. But, yeah, MINI/BMW thinks a LOT of their ragtop.... only other option I know of is you could find a local shop that does custom convertible tops (they're out there) and see if they would tackle one for the MINI... but the MINI top is pretty sophisticated, both in materials and construction... not like an old roadster...

Hope you have insurance that covers this...

I remember those tops you are talking about Blimey. Looked pretty nice with the diffrent colours and designs. Unfortunately can't remember the name of them and haven't seen them since and they are the only aftermarket tops I've seen. Might try looking around at different vendors and maybe at the different dealers that are NAM sponsors to see if they have a little better deal.

I have $0 deductible on my Comp, so things like this... cuts, keying, broken windshield, etc. are fully covered. Vandalism is usually covered well by most policies. You might have it and don't know it. Did you call your agent?
