R52 Tire HELP! ASAP!
Tire HELP! ASAP!
ok my run flat tire is flat and i am wanting to switch to regular tires, can i get like one or two regular tires for my front wheels and keep the back wheels runflats? Because i have a quote for runflats for one Kumho RF tire to be installed and balanced would be around $205. But I can buy 2 regular tires for a little more than that. What should i do?
I don't have an answer for you, but I was just quoted for 4 Goodyear run-flats for the 17" wheels on our new '08, ~$1500... (I was just looking ahead to how painful it would be.)
I would think as long as both front or both back tires were the same, and they were very similar in size to the existing ones, it would be OK. But I'm not an expert. You could try calling the local Mini/BMW service department.

Suggestions: check Craigs List to see if someone locally is selling a full set of runflats. I see them all the time on our local Craigs List. When we first got our used '05 MCSc, the factory runflats were on their last legs. I was able to find a full set with less than 50 miles on them (like new; the car had basically been driven from the dealer to a tire shop for new wheels/tires) for $500, installed.
From what I've seen in other threads where this has come up, it is NOT recommended to mix runflats with non-runflats. But hopefully someone with more expertise will chime in with a reason.
