Overhead Light Ghost

Anyone else experience the dome light on the windshield coming on during turning or accelerating?
I first noticed it this year at the dragon, going into corners hard, the light would come on, then fade off after about 2 seconds. It only happened a few times.
Now it seems like its turning on even on light acceleration.
Do I have a bad ground somewhere? Its really annoying me, so any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

This happened to me before. I found that the boot was not closing all of the way and when I accelerated, the light would come on and fade off. I would start by trying a good hard close off the boot. On mine, one size closes easier than the other. If that is it, there is a way to adjust the latches.

I'd also bet that it is your boot. I had this problem for a while. You might just need it adjusted (I did immediately after brining my MCSC home). But you know that little plastic thing that sticks out on the left side of the boot and detects when the boot is closed? On some older cabrios that thing is too short. MINI has a replacement that is longer that fixes this problem. Funny thing is it takes a way for this problem to show up. I had mine maybe 8 months before this started.

Either case, get your dealer to check it - it's quick warranty fix.

Same here. After I figured out why it was happening and started making sure my boot was completely closed before I drive off it hasn't happened since.

Just had the right rear latch tightedned today, (as well as Air Bag Warning Indicator and Rear Distance sensors, which was terminal cleaning and blown fuse). After a 250 miile trip back home, light at front and boot are both on. Tried spacer for the switch, but will have to go in when I get the correct size tool and try adjusting the adjusted bracket to the way it was before it was fixed. Which these things would show up before one leaves the Service Center.

Slamming the boot shut seems to be working.
I might pop up to the dealer and see if they have a longer one.

My dome light has gone off on me a few times and I find it a bit distracting. The first time it happened I pulled over to check that the boot was closed and indeed it was. It happened again today and while I was backing up I was startled by a loud BEEP. I have no idea where it came from and it isn't like there were any cars or anything behind me that would make the sensors go off.

But I will try to slam the boot shut and hopefully that'll help.

My boot closes easier on one side also. Glad to hear I'm not the only one--when I went in for my first service, dealer said there was no adjustment for this. They were wrong?
