Engine mods, questions, opinions

New Mini owner, 4 days new...

I see there are a number of engine mods available, specifically I'd be interested in the CAI first, then the smaller supercharger pulley, and perhaps exhaust.

Questions are,

How many of you here have done the pulley?

If I just do the CAI first, do I need to flash tune the computer? If no, do I then only need to flash it one the pulley is on?

Gladly listen to all comments and input.

Thanx

You don't need to flash the ECU ever.

Most of the members of the site with a MCS have a reduction pulley

A CAI isn't going to give you any HP on a stock car (Neither is an exhaust for that matter).

Your best bet is to save your money, get a CAI, Pulley, Exhaust, and tune to wrap everything up. Doing things in pieces isn't going to help much.

Which mods? What is your goal? How much do you want to spend? Where do you live? What's your mechanical experience?

Modding a car is complicated.

Thanx for the input, I have a GT500, and every mod requires a tune! so I just assumed, well that saves some $$

And before I get lambasted here by the general membership, I KNOW there are 1000's of threads on this, It's just I don't have 1000's of minutes sorting thru them all...that being said, there are always plenty of people ready to offer their opinions and advice, getting the same products names thrown into the mix will help me sort thru all of this NEW info as I've only been an owner for 4 days!

Cheers

Well, you can certainly tune your car after every mod if you want, but that's a bit silly unless you're trying to squeeze every last ounce of power out of it. You'll have better luck saving up for a package of parts and tuning that.

If you wanna make real power, proven on the dyno and the track, give Jan a call at RMW.
