R52 Harmonics Should Be For Music, Not My MCC!
Harmonics Should Be For Music, Not My MCC!
I know that the handling of the Mini comes with a ride that you wouldn't compare to a Lincoln Town Car, but I have been trying to get my Service Advisor to find the source of what seems to be more of a harmonic vibration than road feel. I had the 195/55 R16 Dunlop run flats, and have switched to Michelin Primacy (non run flat) but I still feel like something is "resonating" at certain speeds. With the run flats it was a shudder that was noticeable at multiples of 17.5 mph (35, 52.5, 70, 87.5). It feels almost like the front and back of the car are "walking" out of sync, or the back end is "walking" while the front remains flat. With the michelins the ride is better, but I still get the same feel I'm talking about (although I haven't narrowed it down to what speeds yet). I had the dunlops rotated and balanced twice before ditching them. Any other ideas?
I have been considering Texas Speedwerks x-brace to keep the body feeling more like it is in one piece at all speeds. Suggestions? Similar experience? Do I just have a bad case of the shakes?

No - I did ask the service people to take a good look at the suspension before I ditched the run flats - they rode along with me, but I think I was speaking a different English than they were. I wish I had thought to ask, or they would have offered that. I'll ask them. Thanks.
