Make sure everything works and look all over for scratches & dents. Check the oil and tire pressure. Then go have fun.

YES! Definitely check the MINI out thoroughly.
I was so excited to get in my MINI and run that I didn't check anything and that could have been a big mistake with some dealers.
After I got home and started to admire my new baby I discovered that she had a few blemishes.
There was a 6 inch long scratch on the door just behind the right side mirror and a tear in my soft top along with a few other minor issues.
My dealer was great about fixing all of it (including getting a brand new top) but it could just as easily gone the other way.
I was prepared for a fight from the dealer on the scratch but didn't get one.
The one thing that I did have in my favor was the high resolution pictures I took of my MINI (from every angle) before taking her off the lot.
This wasn't a precaution, I was just taking pictures of my brand new baby and the pictures happen to capture what my eyes didn't see.
If I were to do it all over again I would inspect every nook and cranny and also have them show you all the idiosyncrenitsities of a MINI in particular.
Many of the idiosyncrasies can also be found on this thread "Things You Didn't Know About Your MINI".
And if you do make the purchase then be sure to add your new baby to this thread "Show Us Your Rag Top!".

If you love Cabrio's as much as I do, you'll have the top down all the time.

Here's a start of things to pick and choose from. I've heard that dealers will charge to set or reset any of the options other than when you pick up the car, so best to get them right the first time. I don't know it that's true or not. Good luck.
