Remove rear headrests ???

Has anyone removed their rear headrests--the pads--to improve rear visibility? My rear seats are always down and unused. Looking for a procedure that doesn't destroy any of the original parts. Thanks.

If you remove the headrests and the plastic covers on the rollbar, you might gain a small amount of rear visibility, but not much. There is a crossbar underneath the headrest: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...=54&fg=20&hl=1

I recommend a rear view camera. The OEM one is great, but expensive and requires factory Nav. There are inexpensive aftermarket versions.

Thanks rkw for the link. After seeing it I concur there wouldn't be much improvement in visibility--guess I'll just have to keep the top down .
