Almost an owner

Come Saturday, assuming the test drive goes ok, I should be a proud owner. Did most of the research on the net and the negotiations by telephone. This web site played a large role. Thanks to all of you! Hope I made the right decision with a first generation car.

He/she who is still unnamed, is Cool Blue with matching dash. Black interior with sport and premium packages. He/she sports a 5-speed, unfortunately with run-flats which I am not fond of.

If all goes well. I'll post some pix...

Good luck! My suggestions if you have not already done these:

Get the VIN numbers and take them to your local MINI dealer, and have them run them for the service records and TSB/recall compliance. Ask them to please print out the factory options sheet as well (the parts guys know best how to do this). This will have build date, delivery date, and all the delivered option codes for the MINI. I would also suggest you run a carfax report on the VIN.

I mean no disrespect to the seller ..... just some prudent suggestions to the buyer!

Sorry for the confusion. I'm buying a new car from a dealer, just haven't been there and driven it yet.

Good Luck. A very exciting time indeed.
You should be smiling all weekend after the ride.

It happened!

What a great buying experience! I talked with the MA at Century Mini in Greenville SC on the phone and via e-mail. They gave me an acceptable price for my trade over the phone (assuming the condition was as I claimed) and faxed me the Monroney sticker. We agreed on price without me having to leave home.

My wife and I left Sebring, Florida Friday night and headed to Greenville.
Spent the night in Kingsland GA. Up at 0600 for the dash to Greenville. After they checked out my car and a great test drive on some hilly, curvy roads with the top down, I was hooked.

After some paper work, wife and I dropped the top and headed back to Florida via Georgia back roads. Lovely ride, until the rain came. But even with the top up, the Mini is FUN. But then I don't have to tell you guys this. We spent the night in Statesboro, GA. Very foggy the next AM and couldn't drop the top until about 1000. Had good weather for the next several hours but eventually we got some Florida afternoon showers. When I figure out how to post pitcures, I'll do so.

This dealer was GREAT! No dealer fees and they threw in floor mats and a portable GPS. It was a 1200 mile round trip but well worth it. I'll heartily recommend this dealership. Oh, they would shipped the car to my door at no cost (in lieu of the GPS) but why waste those roads!

Welcome to NAM and congrats on your new ride. That sounded like a fun trip. I assume you have a MC cabrio. If this is your first MINI your in for a fun time. I'm an old fart [73] and still make excuses to go out and drive it every day. Most fun car I ever had!!

Thanks! It is a fun car, just a little quiet. I'm checking out the exhaust options, which seem to be few. I bought a new 350Z in 2004. Nice car, but it wasn't as much fun as this.
