What happened to hot orange?

Has it been missing for a while?...just checked today and it's not on the configurator. Being the only two special colors for the cabrio, I wonder if cool blue is next.

HO was indeed discontinued for 07.

Now the question is: Will it be re-introduced with the R57 in 09?

Yep - discontinued.... I'm surprised, as it seemed to be a pretty popular color...

HO was popular with enthusiasts, but the dealers dreaded getting in a HO cabrio that wasn't pre-sold.

According to a thread I was reading on MINI2 recently, Hot Orange ended production several months ago, and Cool Blue could end any day. Here is the link.

According to the three dealers I talked to, very few people would actually order Hot Orange. However if they ordered it for their stock it never lasted very long. One dealer told me the longest a Hot Orange that wasn't preordered sat on their lot was 3 or 4 days. Of course that was in 2005. Things may have changed since then.

Wow really? The dealer I got mine from said that they couldn't sell a HO cabrio worth anything. I guess it varies then.

That makes two of us.

When we were thinking about getting a MINI and were online every day "building" the car I was going through the colors and saved the Hot Orange for last because I didn't like it. When we finally did that color, my wife and I looked at it on the computer and said "There is no way in h**l would we have that color!" Then we saw one in person and said ""There's no way in h**l we could get a different color."

I never got past the first reaction.
Hence the cool blue... (which also looks nothing like the color in the configurator...)...

I had seriously considered a HO (I loved the look and the uniqueness) but when it came down to it I could only afford a non-metallic color. Now I'm in love with Chili Red

HO is my favorite MINI color, tied with Silk Green. I really wish it had been available for the tin tops because I would have snapped one up with a white top!

Theres a girl that lives down the street from me who has a HO MINI. I think it might be the best color of all time. So if we do end up with another MINI, It will be HO.

We said the same, then test drove one that happened to be orange. We ordered it that day with all the things we wanted.

The wife's comment:
"If we're getting a car that everyone will notice, we might as well do it all out."
So we ordered the Sunrise Orange seats as well.

you haven't done that until you've gone with the ImagoX lighting options package.

Apparently HO didn't move fast enough for our dealer here in San Diego. Name withheld to protect their image. They couldn't get there automatic 10% markup on them. Actually it's the only way I could get a car from them. I didn't want to pay their markup. When we got ours there were 2 HOs on the lot both willing to be sold without the markup.

I think it was/is a beautiful color.

Why I got mine

I picked hot orange because it was the color used in the brochure. I mean, come on...that's how I decide which color to get for all my cars...don't you?

I managed to get a 2007 HO MCS. Apparently, the HO paint lasted long enough for the first production run of the 07's before being discontinued.

I wouldn't have any other color! I guess I'll have to keep this one until some version of orange makes a comeback.
