49,898

"Austin" is an '04 R50 with a build date of 03/04. He was deliverd on 03/29/04 and is at 49,898 as of this morning. Let me say first that I absolutey love my car like no other I've ever owned (except my '86 CRX Si)! I've have had a various issues, more than any car I've had.

I've just had the car at Classic MINI for the replacement of the radiator and most of the plumbing that goes with it. I'm just worried now there might have been some damage to the engine due to the engine running awhile with very low coolant. I insisted that Classic check all systems to make sure the engine is good and had them put it down in writing on the service order. Good thing I was still under warranty as the car clocked over 49,000 on the way to the service appointment. Other things have been:

-Muffler replaced (hangers rusted)
-Two engine mounts
-Driver's bottom seat cushion replace as seat heater went on the fritz.
-Transaxle rubber boot split. Still can't figure out how that happened.
-Driver's side tail light. I have the MINI factory clear tails and Classic mis- installed it so it leaked.
-Pass. side door speaker. I ordered HK and there has been alot of talk on this issue, but Classic says they won't replace it again. I just stuff a small towel between the door and seat and seems the cut the vibration, but still.......

On the plus side, according to Classic I've still got over 60% left on my brake and I'm still on the original Goodyear run-flats, although I use them as my winter tires. I do own a second set of rims. They are the V spoke Cooper S rims, but the tires are bald. Now that summer is finally here, I'm replacing them as I use these rims in the summer.

I too debate whether to trade the car in next April, but I just don't like the new front styling, though I do like all the new drivetrain as I will always be hoping my Midlands tranny holds up. I'll probably keep Austin for long while, get a beater car, and get a Clubman in '09 or '10. Sorry for being so long winded about it, but bottom line, ANY used car will cost some kind of money down the line.

Cheers and Long Live the R50!

20,000 miles and 3 1/2 years new. No problems, except a trim piece was loose that the dealer replaced free. I love this car!

I've got 55,000 on my 02 and just had the Service 2 a bit early for some squeaky belts.... had an engine fan relay die on me but that's the only problem I've had.

Over 120,000 on my 2003 MCS with lots of mods. Steve's Auto Clinic has kept me away from any significant down time.

2006 MC (new in October) - I've put over 16,000 miles on it in a little less than 8 months and so far, everything has been perfect aside from a cracked windshield

06 mcs (end of year build) that i got with 16 miles on 4/7/07. just crossed 3500 miles this morning. no issues so far except a small chip in my windsheild that you can barely see and something weird and plastic hit my front left bumper and sprayed icky sticky stuff all over the car which i immediately cleaned off... but the weird thing left some strange marks on my bumper. hardly noticeable, but i will replace it.

installing the sc pulley next weekend so i guess we will see how that goes!

Bought in Nov 2003, still motoring in 2007 with 104k! Only major issue has been a replaced wheel bearing, and just replaced original rotors and pads at MOTD2007.
