I had a similar experience just recently of the same sort. Although my MCS was not hurt. My roomy went out to weed wack around the driveway. Thankfully he told me he told he was doing that, and asked me to move the car. Although a rock flew out and smashed his rear window on his Explorer. Guess he should have moved his as well. Mine was safe and sound on the road.
Sorry to hear about your bad luck there. Long weekend too. Dohhh. Hope for a speedy recovery
Cheers,

I had one of my long side windows replaced-it shattered from a rock or something too. I brought it to a MINI dealer-they overnighted the piece of glass and then brought in the glass guy 3rd party to do the labor. It was only $300 including labor and parts.

What a bummer. How about your insurance. I know it doesn't help you feel any better. It doesn't feel good when your baby is hurt. But maybe it would make it pane-less on your wallet.

Sorry to hear about your rear window. It's easy to fix.

Any good auto glass replacement shop can change the glass.Problem is since the car is so new any repair shop will have to get the glass from a Mini dealership. Since most car dealerships "farm out" glass installations it really doesn't matter who you take the car to.Better yet,go to the dealership and ask them who they use for glass replacement and take the car right to them.

Rear glass get expensive because of the defroster grid, but depending on your insurance deductible it might not be worth to to file an insurance claim.

I hope this doesn't make you more depressed.

P.S. I know about broken glass,I'm on my third windscreen and the cars not even a Mini.

Good Luck.

I feel your pain, I did the same with my passenger-side window. Now I nervously lock my car in teh garage before attempting any yardwork.

Sorry to hear,

I found out last week that the BMW dealerships aren't like others, at least mine isn't. They don't farm out the glass work, they have schooled their techs to do glass replacement.

Also since this happened while the car was parked in your driveway, the claim could be filed with the insurance company for the house and not the car. Draw back: most home owners carry a higher deductible on the house.

I'm not worried so much about the cost. He offered to pay, and I don't think that it'll be that much. I'll call the dealer tomorrow because I want the same rear defroster. I loved it, it worked so well!
