Warranty Transfer

I have never purchased a car under warranty. If I buy from a private seller, is the warranty transferable? What do I need to do to get this? Any paper work?

As long as the car is within the time and mileage limits and the factory has not voided the warranty (such as would happen if the car had been tracked at an event where factory representatives were present), it will transfer with the sale of the car. There is no procedure to follow beyond normal transfer of title. If you want to be sure there is no factory warranty voiding, ask a local dealer to check the vehicle identification number (VIN) to see if there are any issues.

Just send an email to MINI.Assistance@askMINIUSA.COM with the VIN and let them know you are the new owner. That way MINI can send MINI info (recalls, solicitations) and fun stuff to you.
As far as maintenance and warrantee work, you don't have to do anything. The car is covered, not the owner.

Very true (about notifying MINI about your being the new owner). I had forgotten about giving MINI the opportunity to notify you about recalls. However, NAM seems to be more on top of issues with the cars and if you just checked NAM, your car would get the attention it needs independent of being notified by MINI.
