I was driving along the interstate this weekend and decided to put her on cruise. I hit the cruise activate button and the cruise light on the tach flashed twice and the cruise didn't activate. I tried again today and same thing. Has this happened to anyone else? Sounds like a trip to the dealer. If any of you experienced this problem and took it to the dealer, was the fix a one day deal? I live 2.5 hours from my dealer and I don't want to have to leave her overnight. Thanks...

sorry about your CC problem, can you tell me if you can get CC without getting the
steering wheel with the stereo vol controls? I havent gotten my brochure yet, and cant seem to find out this from the mini usa site.

thanks

The multi function steering wheel is the only way to get the cruise control...great option do not pass it up !!

fins472953: I dunno about the flashing. Maybe it didn't want CC enabled because the parking brake was on or a foot was on the brake/clutch or an engine sensor detected something awry. Or maybe she's just broke.

Scoutd: Yeah, it's kinda unclear. CC and MFSW are one in the same. You'll want MFSW for the radio controls alone.

There is a thread on the MINIUSA owners lounge on this. There seemed to be some link brake pedal sensor telling the computer that the brakes were applied so it wouldn't engage.

My car is due any day. I hope it's not contagious as I use cruise on a regular basis.

We took a little trip this weekend to the District of Chaos and had a really nice ride in our new baby!

Most Interesting Note: Harley Riders seem to really Dig the MINI!

I used the cruise on the way up on two occasions - the first time it worked fine and the second I got the double flash refusal!

On the way home yesterday - it worked just fine.

I am interested to see if it has something to do with the hand-brake.

fins, Had the same problem a month ago. Played with all the buttons trying to get it to do "something". Ended up pulling over, shutting it off, engaging the p. brake. Let it set for about 10 secs. or so, fired it back up, got up to speed, tryed to set it PROBLEM SOLVED.

Hasn't happened since, but then I don't use the CC a lot. Hope this helps.

Thanks, I'll give your suggestion a try. I don't use CC much either.

The first time I tried to use cruise it didn't "set" on the speed I wanted. I pushed the button with more pressure and it worked fine. Worth a try.

Sorry to hear about your cc. I have had my mini for a week now and the cruise worked on the drive home and the next day it was doing exactly the same thing you described. I'm taking it in on Thursday for repairs and will let you know what the prob is. Sure sound like a sensor problem though.

Right out of the box the cruise did the double light then nothing trick. About the 4th time out it started working and has everytime since. Works fine but looses a 1-2 mph on the slight grades around Nashville. I did have 3 on board w/the AC running so that didn't help. BTW it is a MCS

I've got my fingers crossed that it keeps working.

Well, I took the MC in today and all that was needed was to replace a diode. This diode is in the PS cooling fan wire of all places but it was an easy fix and you should not have to leave it overnight. Also, while I was in line to enter the service garage, I engaged the emergency brake and then engaged the CC, and guess what? The problem seemed to fix itself on the spot. These cars must have incredible healing powers. Anyway, the good folks at Baron MIni in Kansas City did the right thing and looked at and and replaced the diode. They did say that this has happened a few times recently and it appears that MINI USA is aware of it and knows wherein the problem lies.
