I've had my '06 MSCa for a week now, and just this morning I noticed an extra cable kind of hanging back of the brake and gas pedals. It ends in what appears to be a 20-pin connector. Any ideas as to what this might be?

 

First - welcome to the boards!

Now, on to business... I've seen that thing too... Is it plugged into a recipticle attached to an "L" shaped bracket? A photo would help (to make sure we're talking about the same thing). There are things all over the wheels (spin sensors for the run-flats, brake wear indicators and controls for the traction control system if you have it installed), and I'd hazard a blind guess that it's associated with one or all of those systems.

 

Thanks for the welcome, although I'm not technically new to the MINI world. My beloved CR/W MC was totaled a little while ago, so this is my new one. Not completely adjusted to it yet, or maybe I'm just not finished "mourning." But that's for another post.

Anyway, the cable is just hanging there. The 20-pin connector end is not connected to anything!

 

Hmmm... That seems... odd. A photo would be good. I'd run that past a MINI shop if you have one nearby as well - perhaps it got knocked loose. Of course, if that were an active cable and it came off, you'd think that you'd get warning lights all over the place...

On a different note... CR/W MC... I feel your pain. I want one of those for my daily driver... BAD.
