It could have lost far more than $7k if it's had the front end ripped off in an accident and replaced.

Yes, but I ran the Carfax... so technically, on paper, the car is good as new.

I wouldn't buy it because the damage sounds pretty bad but if you like it a lot, have a 3rd party inspect it. I know because I've owned two of these cars that a whole lot of parts can be replaced and add up to a really hefty repair bill from a very minor accident. Of course no one other than people at the dealership know truly how bad this MINI was hurt. Parts that were replaced could have been anywhere in between badly scratched and destroyed.

You never know how non factory paint will hold-up over time. I'm pretty picky about body work done to a car. I'd get the price down a bit more and have the car inspected by a bodyshop if you really love the car.

Sorry to drop out of there for awhile, but I valued the input.

I ended up submitting a lowball offer which they basically scoffed at. The car ended up selling on ebay for $24,500 (asking price was $24,900). It was a gorgeous car, but I couldn't get comfortable knowing there might be a black cloud on the horizon.

So I'm back in the hunt. I prefer the 06 but due to their limited availability with my desired options, I'm looking a little closer at the 05s. They seem to be a little more available and typically can be had at a more reasonable price.

Thanks again and I'm sure we'll be talking again soon.

You'll look back on this and thank yourself for not buying it. Too many unanswered questions.
Good luck in your hunt!

I believe you've made the right decision. Take your time, you'll find the right car. Good luck in your search.

Even if there was nothing wrong with the car, you would always wonder if every creak and rattle was due to previous repairs -- the peace of mind is certainly worth the wait.
