Hello again everybody!!

I was absolutly stunned at how fast everybody responded to my previous post about the MINI's ability to handle adverse weather. Thank you all for you input, and thus far everybody's input has been nothing short of great news for the awesome little MINI.

My new question is also one that i think will not only help me, but help other future MINI motorers, so please help if you can!!!

The question is, after your experiance with your MINI's what would you say you wish you knew going into it, and what should somebody who is about to be a new motorer expect, and prepare for? (other than just having an awesome car!!)

Thank you all again!! YOU ROCK!!!

I wish i knew i was destined for all my problems. Be certain that you live in close proximity to a dealership or you'll end up with numerous long trips to a dealer with no loaner policy if you end up with a car like mine.

Watch your speed. My MINI is always trying to instigate me into speeding tickets. It never feels as if it's going as fast as it is.

I agree with rataha. But go to a dealer. Drive them both and really think about which model you want. It's very tempting to grab one off the lot, but consider that this will be your car for the next 3 to 5 years, so get the one you want. Order it, and wait a couple of months. The waiting is painful, but not near as painful as wishing you would of held out for the model/options/color that you really wanted.

As a MINI is very much an individual car, with loads of personality, I highly recommend that you order your MINI with the options you want it to have. As with all good things, it's worth the wait. Then be prepared for a massive amount of questions/gawks/spying from John Q. Public. If you don't want the whole world to know about your dirty laundry, don't leave it in plain sight in your MINI's interior. People will scrutinize every aspect of your car when its parked on the street/lot even your driveway. Hey if it's anonymity you want, get a minivan. I've even caught folks lying on the ground looking under my MINI to check out the ground clearance. Also allocate an extra couple of minutes at every fuel stop for Q&A with the other motorists. (99+% positive comments.) But most of all, be prepared to Drive your MINI.

If you have a choice of dealers.. go to both adn setup your deals.. or if you leave near a border of two states and ou can go to a mini in each that is very helpful.. I did that adn got a better deal in MD instead of VA, but got to pay VA taxes  but nto the other va surcharges... be prepared for a problem, I still ahve a stutter in teh car but it no biggie it will get fixed.. so far teh car has been very solid in every other aspect of driving etc.. and msot deffintly order everytng you want on the car, you can never go wrong if you feel you didn't skimp... one stipulation though, some optiosn are dealer installed and if you savvy, you can buy them yourself afterwards and save a bundle. I woudl also order your car. I only had to wait a month.. if you don't need it right now, there no sense in buy a car that "almost what you want" and paying boo-coup bucks over msrp just becuase it is on the lot. BUy a cooper or an S you can't go wrong, both are great car (but if you looking to save, the cooepr starts otu cheaper which mean you can more options for less... and I doubt the speed diff will get to you unless you previously drove a sports car... good luck and happy motoring

I am for sure getting the S version. I like to drive pretty fast and really dig how spirited the driving is in the S version. I ordered it back in Feb and have to wait til June for delivery...just one more month!!! (Painful month though...lol)
