R50/53 How Much $$$$ Down?
I also went to the Credit Union, BMW couldn't beat the rates. I had already sold what would have been the trade-in car about a year before. The dealership said a lot of people are leasing the cars. Thought about doing that but I knew that I would go over the miles allowed under the lease. Plus I'm not going to sell this car ever. It's MINE all MINE!

Simple deal: $5,000 down (Amount already includes mandatory $500 ordering deposit) and will be financing the rest through PeopleFirst.com on a 36 month retail loan contract @ 4.75% interest rate ,which clearly beats the best rate currently offered on a 36 month loan by my Credit Union @ 6.25%. No trades as we already sold our second car a few months ago.
I am not going to bother making an inquiry with BMW/Mini Financial Services, as I am sure that they are not going to be able to match Peoplefirst's excellent rate of 4.75% APR, in despite of our substantial credit rating and high end FICO score.
MINI buyers with good credit records and considering obtaining outside financing for their new MINIs can do themselves a big favor by making a comparison between the best financing rates offered by their personal bank, thrift or credit union vs PeopleFirst.com rates.
Last, I heard in the news a couple of nights ago that the positive reaction in Wall Street on Tuesday was due to an announcement made by the Fed about cutting interest rates even lower in the coming days. I will wait another week or so and then will proceed to secure the financing (MINI just loaded on the boat today) after the Fed makes the rate cut official.

We financed about $18K. MINI offered us 8% (in North. Cal) and said they MAYBE could go as low as 6.9% if we had another offer in writing for them to beat.
However we went through our credit union for 5.05% (48 month).
