R50/53 Taking A Color Count
we saw a fantastic solid Jet Black MINI with the tan cordoba two-tone leather interior and the chrome. It REALLY looked good! I have seen several black with white roof MINIs in L.A., and recently have seen several solid black at the dealers. It's hard to predict which color will be most classic. Maybe based on future track successes?Cheers!

>>How many of you have a jet black MINI with both body and roof the same color? If only a few have this color scheme will this increase the value when it becomes a classic?
You'll need to wrap it up carefully and store it in a dry place for 50 years.

>>>>I've seen several all black Minis in Los Angeles. They look good but, a bit sedate for this type car in my humble opinion. But, it's the car, not the color that will or won't become a classic. I also think if you look in any book, article etc. about the history of Mini's, the traditional color combos are red/white or BRG/white. However, I think this car looks goooood in really any color combo. It's just a matter of personal taste and I think that's all you should consider.

MY OPINION >> Well I was going to go with the all black version. Currently drive an all black VW GOLF/GTI tinted windows and all ,so I am partial to total black. However the day I went to place my order at the dealer there was an all black cooper that just arrived and was waiting for delivery, I was sure glad I saw it before I ordered it. I thought the ALL BLACK look was SOOO VERY BLAH looking . so I opted for the black body white roof and white wheels combination. I think the contrast really looks sharp ( the car just looked very non impressive all black ) REMEMBER THIS IS JUST MY OPINION
I would have gone for some color on the car but my wife really liked the pure silver with black top but they didn't have any pre-spec'd cooper s coming in that combination that had the S/P packages. So we went with the dark silver with white top. It was going to be her car in a few years but I've changed my mind. The car does look great with the white bonnet stripes. You can see it in the "Members MINIs" page at pages 31 & 32. The black and white photos along with some color around the old Navy base in Alameda.
In my humble opinion, black does not sit well with the MINI. To me this color is meant for large, luxury sedans like Mercedes, Bentley, etc but for a short car like the MINI, I am not so sure.
I have seen just a few in Jet/Cosmos black here in S.Florida (Bad color choice in hot climates to begin with) and while it helps enhancing the chrome accented bodywork, other than that, I did not find it impressive.
Black is a very demanding color to keep clean and scratch free. It is extremely hot in the summer as it absorbs more light and heat than a white/lighter car.
I am not dissing it. All I am trying to say is that Black is my least favorite color for the MINI, but if you have one and have the time to keep it in tip top shape, more power to you.
And all black MINI is excessive.

All black? Hmmmm...as said in other replies, tough to keep clean and oh those scratches! Have a look at the dark silver...doesn't show the dirt as much, and when combined with a black roof and rally stripes...well, let's put it this way. I was stuck in bumper-to-bumper, minding my own biz. The person next to me was so taken with the look, that he smacked into the car in front of him cuz he was looking at the Cooper. No damage or injury, but well...it proves my point.
