Cracked windshield fixed... here comes another problem
Have the windshield replaced to day... but another problem's happened, the shop broke the outside plastic piece that cover the A pillar when they replaced the windshield.
They said they will replace the piece once they get the part.
But...why..why..oh, why.

Happened to me when I had my windscreen replaced almost 2 years ago. Most of the people I've talked to who have had a windscreen replaced have had one of the A-piller trims busted. The good news is that list on the part is about $45 and your dealership should have them in stock.
I've got some shots of the repair manual........ I'll be back.
Edit: I'm back:
Here is what the Bentley has:

When they say release the door seal, they mean remove it from the track it fits in. Easiest way I've found is to start at the upper forward corner. I don't know if the new pieces have a sticky back 3M type foam tape to hold the leading edge to the glass, but if it does pay close attention to getting that clean. That way the foam will stick and the piece won't fly off the car down the road, sort-a-speak.
Good luck

Ahh ok, now I've got it. See the #2 screw is more for the security of the lower chrome strip then it is for the a-piller cover, but if they don't remove it ....................
wish you a speedy recovery!

I lost the trim piece that hadn't been replaced during a club run last weekend. 130mph and there was a "crack!" then wind noise. When we stopped, I discovered that the trim piece was gone along with the rubbery bit that goes between it and the metal.
I got another one that day and put it on the next day. I took my time cleaning up the double stick tape residueand everything, and was done in about an hour. Most of that time was spent cleaning. You have to pull off the door sealing rubber to access the screws that hold the back side of the trim on. I also bought a roll of double stick automotive tape to make sure the rubber bit wouldn't come loose. Looks good to me.

I heard enough stories about these flying off that I simply told the glass shop that they needed to order all new trim because these pieces cannot be reused.
I don't remember the price, but those plastic parts were cheap

Updated:
The finisher has been replaced.....but during the installation the shop broke the top molder (small rubber piece attached at the top of the finisher)
And instead of replace with a new one, they glue it.
Oh well,..... I will go the dealer tomorrow to get the piece and install it myself.

Good luck. If you're talking about the corner piece of the roof trim, when I tried to get one, you couldn't buy just that bit. They wanted me to buy the whole side trim. Hopefully, that's changed in the last 2 years.
